whether we like it or not JZ is what we have to live with in this Game. If we are true Buckeyes we will support him to the end. I have a feeling we will see a different QB this time around. The O line is allot better. We are now using Teddy Ginn more which in turn should open up Holmes and the others. Maybe we can get a running game going also?

Lets Go Bucks!

Here's to Zwick having a fine game. There is nothing like a young QB using off time to reflect on what he's done at the helm. Okie State isn't exactly known for their outstanding pass rush or anything so I think he'll do just fine.

This team has had ups and downs, but they are Buckeyes. They played UM like Buckeyes. They hit UM like Buckeyes. Zwick may very well show us something that we have not seen. But he's not the only guy on the field. This is a team that lost four games, three in a row. They've had their pride tested. So has Zwick. This is a team that has a legitimate opportunity to win the NC next year.

Given a clean slate and none of this recent stuff up, I like Smith better than Zwick. But I think both have the potential to be great.

Call it scarlet and grey glasses if you like, but I think that we will come out of this stronger. I think Zwick will find himself forced to leave his comfort zone and I think we will shut down Oklahoma State.

Buckeyes by 14.

I hope Zwick can perform as well as he did at the beginning of the season, but I have some concerns about that. Maybe the rest of you can put my mind at easy by showing me where I have erred.

1. I think the improvement of the O-line may be deceiving. When you have a QB that can run the ball effectively it affects how the defence rushes the QB. When Zwick was in the game, the defence didn't have to worry about the threat of him running.

2. Some people have mentioned that Zwick throws the deep ball better. This may be true, but the last time I remember him throwing a good deep ball was the first half of the Marshal game.

3. The single thing that concerns me the most about Zwick is that his first game was his best, and his last game was his worst. If this order was reversed I would feel MUCH better about him. Maybe this was due to a shoulder injury, I guess we can only hope it was.

If the order were indeed reversed, then he would have been the starter all year and this discussion wouldn't be happening.

I think the time he spent on the sidelines and healing his shoulder will show come game time.

The gameplan aspect has been mentioned previously and I agree the offensive scheme must be altered to fit JZ, however Oklahoma State must also make adjustments. I would guarantee the scUM gamefilm secured a defensive "spy" for Smith. They have been preparing one player for this task and the rest of the defense to cover/prepare for certain soft spots in the zone. Now, they must alter their scheme for an entirely different type of QB.

They must now breakdown additional film from earlier in the year, although they probably already viewed it, and plan for a different attack. Don't underestimate this as a problem for them as well.

I think people are getting the wrong idea about Zwicks running ability. Is he going to rush for 145 yard a game? No. Do we need a QB to run for 145 yard a game? Well, if we do then the QB position is not the biggest problem on this team.

Another point here, go back and watch the scUM game and take note of how and when Smiths running was effective. He was by far more effective on passing plays that he pulled down and ran. Called draws and QB keepers did not do much of anything. I think Justin showed the ability to pick up good yards on the ground when he had to. He does stand in the pocket a little longer and look to pass the ball a little longer than Troy did, but when he does step up he can get some yards. He is not a stiff back there.

Lets give him a shot and see if he took the opportunity while standing on the sidelines to step back and look at the scheme a little. He may have a better understanding of what is going on now that he has seen it from the sidelines. I look for him to have a good game, but I would not expect him to come in and blow up for 5 TDs and 450 yards. That would be unfair and absurd for people to expect anywhere close to those numbers. I think we can all agree that if he can call and manage a good game with at most 1 turnover, we should be pleased. I hope they call some quick passes to get him in a groove early and lets see what happens then.

All of you who have already made your decisions and feel that the only way to judge him is by the FIRST few games of his career really should step back a little and understand that there is a learning curve.

The Alamo is Zwick's next epiphany.

"PHOENIX: n. 2. A person...that has been restored after suffering calamity or apparent annihilation."

I'm naming Zwick "Phoenix" for the Alamo. No reason not to think he can do well. He's got the experience, the talent and he's no longer injured.

I hope Troy Smith has a chance, in front of the team, to give Zwick his support and encouragement to lead the TEAM. That would show super class (that I think Smith has already), and it would transfer to the team's confidence. In this way Troy can play a part in the Alamo although he won't be attending.

I know one thing Hamby and Nicol are happy Smith isn't playing, they haven't had a sniff in the last four games.

I should say licking their chops for the ball not happy. Anyone who is happy about this happening should move to michigan and/or be shot!

I don't see the coorelation between Zwick and the "standard" offense. We ran the spread a lot under Zwick...he just didn't run like Smith did. Oh yeah, if anyone has forgotten how good Zwick can be when he has time and his confidence is up, right-click and save this clip...
great clip mili. how quickly people forget. my only conscern with zwick is that he tended to get single receiver focused. there were times i wondered if holmes was the only receiver we played :p. id imagine being on the scout team fixed that though. im not to conscerned with zwick being the qb.
