He let the non pro style QB go to LSU so hopefully you're wrong. Also Day brought some nice RPO concepts into the offense last yearAwesome. I like Pro-Style QBs, but it just doesn't seem to fit what Meyer tries to do.
I hope so too.He let the non pro style QB go to LSU so hopefully you're wrong. Also Day brought some nice RPO concepts into the offense last year
Awesome. I like Pro-Style QBs, but it just doesn't seem to fit what Meyer tries to do.
Did he just learn that after last year? Because it didnt seem like a lesson learned while Barrett was at the helm...The run element will always be there. It’s just not the defining aspect anymore.
And, as always, take the best possible player you can at the most important position on the field.
If it’s Haskins one year and then Martell the next, fine.
Just don’t constantly look for round or square pegs. Adapt to either.
Besides, it’s been well documented how to stop the old Meyer system and I think he knows it.
You work with what ya got.Did he just learn that after last year? Because it didnt seem like a lesson learned while Barrett was at the helm...
Cardale was quite the Pro style QB as well, just not used properly. With Day, Haskins may see the success that Cardale didn't because we have an OC to utilize his strengths and not force him into an offense that's not his style. Martell will be the wildcard in this QB room, because even with Baldwin in the fold, and Miller coming in, he's now the odd duck in the room full of pass first QBs.First, I do think our offense is moving more towards having a pro-style QB at the helm. Haskins is the most pro style guy we've had and I definitely agree that you just have to take Martell based on his skill, he was one of the more dynamic HS QBs I have seen (plus his passing was very undervalued, the QB experts actually really like his passing skills in HS). Miller is definitely a pro-style guy, but he is not a statue either. His freshman year, he ran for 831 yards and averaged 9 yards a carry. I think Miller is plenty athletic and will fit nicely with what we are trying to do.
Ohio State, LSU, Florida State, Mississippi and South Carolina.
"I'm probably going to take a trip to Ohio State and LSU and whoever else I really like this summer, and then plan to make an early decision before the season," said Miller, who is rated by 247 Sports as the No. 1 quarterback in the nation in the 2020 class.
I like our chances!
Don't expect any movement on the '20 QB front until the '19 QB situation is resolved. Right now it appears to be Gunnell, Gunnell & Gunell so next weekend's official visit should give us a clearer indication of where tOSU truly stands on that front given the conflicting reports of where he may be leaning at the moment.
The Mike Zdebski era at Hamilton High got off to an exciting start Friday, with the Huskies two plays from holding off longtime state power Chaparral in their season-opening football game.
Unfortunately for the Huskies and their new coach, though, Chaparral quarterback Jack Miller, who has committed to Ohio State, threw a perfect, third-down, back-shoulder fade to senior Marcus Norvell, who came down with it inbounds for a touchdown that gave the Firebirds a thrilling 36-33 win in overtime at Hamilton.
“I knew the last play was coming to me, so I knew what was on the line,” Norvell said. “It’s a big win for us. It’s a big confidence boost and a big win for us.”
As disappointing as it was, Zdebski took it philosophically.
“We tell the kids that there will always be adversity and we saw that tonight,” Zdebski said.
Miller completed 23 of 46 attempts for 402 yards and three touchdowns.
