Wow...JTB has worked with some ridiculous talent during his years of service. Most of these guys are/were great blockers, but how about efficient production down the field? A few thoughts on sure-handedness among current players...
K.J. Hill is 4th by yardage, but he only has 3 drops and a 76.5% (65/85) reception per target rate. He reminds me a bit of Corey “Philly” Brown, just a bit more rangy - steady, reliable, very fast when they get going and shifty around the line of scrimmage. Potentially deadly on reverses and over the middle with tOSU’s WR blocking under Meyer. Excellent slot/HB.
Parris Campbell’s 8 drops are surprisingly lower than Marcus Baugh’s 11, though now that I think about it, I can picture a few of Baugh’s more egregious ones and the clap of shame. PC could light it up next year, especially if he were more involved in the rushing game plan. ST optional, imo.
Terry McLaurin has few drops and a massive air yards/target at 17.1. Only Devin Smith has a deeper yardage rate (an amazing 20.8) during JT’s career...Victor and Dixon are close. I’d say Terry (and Dixon to an intermittent degree) satisfies that Deep Ball Threat role nicely. Victor makes up for low raw production with the 3rd highest yards per catch of anyone with at least 10 catches.
Austin Mack is on par with Hill, albeit with 40% of the targets. Next QB needs to get him more chances - I think he’s primed for a breakout year in ‘18. That could be said about all of those I’ve mentioned. Really good stable of pass-catchers on this team at the moment.
I’m just a tad worried that half of these guys will head to the Draft…
