QB Dwayne Haskins Jr. (All B1G, B1G OPOY, Silver Football, Rose Bowl MVP, R.I.P.)

I really thought Joe Burrow was the best to lead this team; and I think he would be shining still.
That said, Haskins is ridiculous. It's not just what he does but it's the feel the offense has when he's in the game. They're unstoppable right now.
I think Joe was totally effecient and he's showing that at LSU, but Dwayne is a lightning rod. He has no fear and even his balls that are off target feel like we're going to score when he lets it go. I'm all Buckeye all the time but I was worried when Joe left. I'm not anymore.

Dude is awesome.

Agree. I think Burrow would've been a great QB at OSU this year, and would've allowed for more QB runs (which I was worried about), but after a few games, it's clear Haskins runs the offense smoothly and the WRs seem to love it. So far, he's done what great QBs do: make everyone's job easier by operating quickly and very efficiently.

Same. I wanted Joe because he was the more safe pick and boy I was wrong. Like you mentioned the feel the offense has I've never witnessed before. Killer run game and a even more lethal play action game. Dwayne just has the guts to attempt throws most would never take and Dwaynes skill allows him to pull it off. Also like you said even when Dwayne misses its an almost score.

Glad I was wrong because I think having a lesser talented QB running the ball has helped us evolve on offense.

Generally agree but I think we'll know more about how far the offense has evolved when the defenses are better and Meyer is back on gameday.

One thing I saw from Rutgers was their 2nd stringers were obviously still following the game plan when Tate came in and they just instantly took the pitch man. Seems pretty clear that Haskins always giving it to the back has been noticed.

OSU coaches are either saving the Haskins keeper on the RO for just the right moment OR it's a big tell that the better defenses can make them pay for.

Time will tell.

Haskins' longest streak of incompletions this year is 2, which has happened 3 times.

His longest streak of completions is 9.

His current streak is 8 completions.

If he starts the TCU game with 4 straight completions, he will be in a 6 way tie for the 2nd longest completion streak in OSU history.
If he starts the TCU game with 8 straight completions, he will tie JT Barrett for the longest completions streak (season) in OSU history.

25 of Haskins' 42 completions this year have been part of streaks of 8 or more. He has three such streaks, including the current one.

The part I'm enjoying the most is that DBB has decided to re-engage on bringing the stats this year! Love it!

I haven't felt so relaxed when the QB drops back since Troy's heisman year.

I'd rather have 2014 than 2005 though.
The heisman is a joke at this point. Beat tsun, win in Indy and everything else is icing on the cake.

Man, are you right! Glad you brought up the Heisman. I might get bombarded for this, but what the hell......I wouldn't care if nobody from tOSU was ever considered for the Heisman again.

Kinda like getting your picture on the cover of Sports Illustrated, if you get my drift.

Dude has been spot on the last two weeks. Saturday he did miss a wide open Parris Campbell for what would have probably been a TD, as well as a wide open Berry in the back of the end zone for a sure TD but 20-23 and 4 TDS works for me. An elite passed who will only get better.
On the crossing route to Parris he has Victor crossing behind him even more open. Bum.

Haha seriously tho kids a beast

Football: Dwayne Haskins faces first major opponent in No. 15 TCU

IMG_9562-xdjxp4-530x353.jpg

Dwayne Haskins has been nothing short of spectacular in his first two starts for Ohio State.

The redshirt sophomore quarterback combined for 546 yards and nine touchdowns with only one interception while completing 79.2 percent of his throws.

These eye-raising statistics came against Oregon State and Rutgers, who held the third- and 55th-worst scoring defenses in the NCAA last season, respectively.

Now, with TCU, the 16th-best scoring defense in 2017, on the horizon, Haskins and the Ohio State offense will be getting their first real test of the season. For Haskins, his first real test as a starter.

Besides the final 20 minutes of the Michigan game last season, Haskins’ experience came at the end of games that were decided well before he ever touched the field.

Haskins will be making his first collegiate start against a ranked opponent at a neutral site 18 miles from TCU’s campus. In doing so, he has an opportunity to build on his already impressive stats.

In the press conference on Monday, acting head coach and offensive coordinator Ryan Day said he has seen promising decision-making in Haskins’ first two starts under center.

“Whether it’s before or after the snap, he has to make decisions,” Day said. “He has the ability to make a check or in the pass game, he can change the protection and slide it one way or the other. He has a good handle on that.”

Day said that despite the early season success Haskins has found, there are still plenty of mistakes to be corrected, especially with TCU coming up on the schedule.

“I think that, you know, when the games get tighter, every play matters even more. And so the mistakes are still there,” Day said. “The interception in the red zone two games ago, or, you know, a play with false starting or sack on third down; those plays in a big game are going to show up even more.”
