QB Dwayne Haskins Jr. (All B1G, B1G OPOY, Silver Football, Rose Bowl MVP, R.I.P.)

I don't think Haskins is bad just immature and shouldn't be around people who are trying to make a brand before he even played his first snap. Now that's hard cause at least some of those people are family. On the bright side he has made it through the day without being cut so someone in that org still believes in him it seems.

Brandon Allen is out for the year, Alex Smith isn't back to practice yet, and they have a chance to win their division.

If they had other options or were 2-12 he'd probably be gone. I expect this to be his last season in Washington.

If Dwayne was simply cut, there would be no worth to Washington. However, as trade bait, he would generate maybe a second round draft choice. And (not remembering here), if he had a 'guaranteed' portion to his contract. Washington would still be liable for this piece if he was cut, but not so much if he was traded to another team (Pittsburgh) for instance. Plus he's getting some time now, not because of the coach's largesse, but because there's no one left on the bench.....

There is no chance in Hades someone is giving up a 2nd rounder for him at this point. Maybe a 6th.

QB talent is sticky in the NFL. If he ends up with a long career he will have to humble himself this offseason, take a backup and/or up for grabs role, and get back to the hunger that had him beat out Burrow instead of the complacency from a first round payday.

I’m not making excuses for him....but he was in a shitty spot to begin season with Rivera and Turner bringing in “their guy” and building a check down system around Haskins.

He’s shown flashes at times.....what sucks is the system on top of zero trust in Dwayne to push ball downfield. On top of that, the talent isn’t very good to say the least.

Dwayne has a long uphill climb to be relevant in NFL, but I still think he could absolutely thrive with the right offensive coordinator and HC.

it’s hard to juxtapose the shape he’s in and how he transformed his body (dude is athletic now) and the off-field decisions. I think the want to be good is there, change of scenery is 100% necessary.

That's honestly what it is.... glad he got paid at least and hopefully he's put money away because he's probably going to be out of the NFL at this pace within a few years.

It's interesting that Troy Smith probably lost his chance under similar circumstances when new coaches came in to Baltimore. If you succeed in the NFL you have to be "The Guy" that gets brought in when there is a coaching change. Or be "The Guy" that gets drafted.

The dirty secret in NFL is when you take a new job, you build scapegoats from previous admin.

Dwayne is Rivera’s scapegoat. Dwayne hadn’t helped himself off the field or in, but he hasn’t been put in a position to succeed either.

So many QB’s have had similar fates. Will be interesting if Dwayne can find a spot that allows him to mature and learn. I think at a minimum, he’s able to catch on as a 3rd string flyer. I just hope he goes to a competent organization.

It’s hard to blame complacency, IMO, when the dude is in the best physical shape of his life, and absolutely transformed his body type.

I think he’s in a really poor system fit, with a coaching staff that has never wanted him from
Day 1 and there’s mistrust due to it, that has manifested into what we have seen.

Blame on both sides, IMO.
