QB Dwayne Haskins Jr. (All B1G, B1G OPOY, Silver Football, Rose Bowl MVP, R.I.P.)

I agree. The only longevity argument is that he'll get lots of quality reps (with a low chance of benching) next year in college, even if he takes a step back. He may not get those reps in the pros if he is not ready. You are right that he'll get more chances than a mid-rounder like Cardale.

Dwayne's draft stock would take a significant hit throwing to the exact same WRs in their young form (the experience level that the 2019 QB will have). Young Parris and Terry were talented but very inconsistent. Young Johnny was still a probable hardship waiver.

WR Olave (a few games)
WR Mack (vet but rehabbing)
WR Victor (vet but not consistent)
Backups: Saunders, Harris, Wilson, etc
HB Gill (almost no PT)
RB Dobbins/McCall
TE All returning

If Mack has any lingering issues with his injury, you have Victor and Saunders as your lone veterans at WR. That's not a recipe for skipping a layup to the top of the draft.
Did I miss KJ declaring?

Here's the deal: He just had the single-best season in B1G history for a QB. No guarantee it gets better than it just was with so many WR's leaving. His stock is really high right now. Better QB draft class next year coming out. Another year playing the sport w/o getting paid /injury risk. The more film GM's get to see the more they can pick his game apart.

Only things that could trump those factors are his love of playing with his teammates at OSU and the chance to develop one more year under Day, and I just don't see those outweighing the other factors I just mentioned.

Strike while the iron is hot.

Even discussing this is foolish. He's gone.
He really just needs to be. Obviously every Buckeye fan would love to see him return, but he’s a first rounder (and likely high first and first QB taken). As much as I’d love to see him come back, it’s just far too risky and with VERY little upside.

So as you think about taking care of a fellow Buckeye and his future, you actually hope he leaves.

Just to add anecdotally, I was sitting in the exact aisle across from the Haskins family at the Big Ten Championship. After the celebration and while filing out, I decided to reach over and shake his hand, thank him and his son for everything he did for Buckeye Nation.

His pops gave me the “1 more game!” I always took that as him having no chance of ever sitting out the Rose and obviously declaring- but I wasn’t going to sit there and interview him

Tate talks like he knows it’s an open competition already so I haven’t sweated this one at all. Best to ever do it at the position here. Go get paid.

(If anything changed since then, I’ll do a backflip)

You make excellent points here, jwins, but IMO Olave is the best of the bunch, and he's returning with some seasoning.

But I agree with the larger point: I'd actually hate to see Dwayne come back. Even from a degree standpoint he can always pick up the classes in the offseason or after his NFL career ends.
