Not only that, but he's got to get bigger and older. I'm not sayin (see what I did there?) make him sit three years or even two. I'm saying that it's borderline irresponsible and could be detrimental to most kids to throw them out as a starter right away. If he's earned it during the season, ok, I guess, but I'd rather see him get reps and work a year and really be ready to take over when it's the right time. I don't think a real player runs off because of one development (if it's good, real development) year at tOSU. After that, fair question.Having no familiarity with these guys, I'll ask you - does "best arm" mean just that? Arm talent? If so, especially as a freshman, then I'm taking that at face value.
Showing a great arm in camp and practice is one thing. Having quick eyes, consistently good and decisive decision making, timing and ball placement are all of significantly greater value. We just often tend to get sucked into the *wow he throws fast* part and ignore the rest because it's quickly digestible.
