QB CJ Stroud (All B1G, 2022 B1G QB of the Year, All-American, NFL OROY, Houston Texans)

Young is Tua 2.0. His career is 5 years or less in the league due to getting broken in half.

CJ just needs to be a bit more mobile to shut everyone the fuck up. That and win every damn game and burn half of these pundits to the ground
Bryce young is good I don't have a problem with someone thinking he might be better then CJ. Also I thought Kyler Murray would be Broken in half by now

I have a problem with someone thinking there are 18 better QBs this year and Will Levis is a better draft pick

You don’t think that Levis, who couldn’t beat out Sean Clifford, is getting drafted before CJ Stroud?

Seems like CJ is being penalized by PFF for having:
* excellent receivers who create separation
* excellent offensive coordination which creates plays where receivers have advantages

In the end, the NFL won't judge CJ based on these items.

Yep. He's also getting penalized for knowing when he's planning to do with the ball at the snap. He throws too often to his first read. That tells me that either he's really good at knowing who is going to be open before the ball is snapped, the coaches are calling good plays against the defenses, and/or his first read knows how to get open. Probably a little of all three.

CJ has improved his deficiencies this year:
Mobility - escapes from pocket.
Throwing accuracy on the move.

He also should be prized by NFL for accuracy when being affected in the pocket (e.g. defenders at his feet).
Yep though the coaches comments on that worry me.

When asked about what he was doing better they said throwing on the move. But when asked if they worked on that over the off season they were like nope he did it on his own.

Now they could have been just trying to say he's a hard worker and they didn't have to make him work on it but he was bad at last year. I get knowing the O and what to do in the pocket is important. But throwing on the move is important as well and should be something they drill.

This is more of a passing game post than a Stroud post, as the results we're seeing have a lot more to do with the whole than with any individual piece.

But the folks in New York hand the trophy to one guy, so...

*= not a starter

Here's a little context to show just how special this passing game is.

To me it is notable that the QB coach, and to a certain extent the OC, has a lot to do with this. I actually had the OC in this table, but I removed that column because the QB coach column tells a much clearer story over the past 14 years.

Herman was good. He got a rating of 169.82 out of Freshman JT Barrett.
Beck ruined Barrett. It's that simple.
Day wasn't able to repair all of the damage, but the increase in JT's senior season is notable.

Day has been the real difference though. A new era of offense has dawned in the last few years, and Day has Ohio State at the forefront of it.

What CJ and the rest of the offense are accomplishing this year is unique in Ohio State history.

I have a feeling that tomorrow we're going to start to realize just how special this year is.

OK, I'll spell it out

I think there's a good chance that the Buckeyes are going to take the #3 scoring defense and do to it what they did to Toledo's passing defense numbers.

If you want to tell me you already expected that, that's fine. But I haven't seen anyone say anything like it here.

Truthfully, this is the times when I miss Jax the most. Because if he were still here I know he would accuse me of sniffing paint.

I meant it more as a joking response that you’re supposedly insulting me.
I have not posted specific thoughts about it, but I absolutely believe this year is special. I believe this team is playing as a team like the 2014 team did. Joel Klatt says he likes to visit teams in person to get a sense of their chemistry. I get a pretty good idea just from watching games on TV and from occasional post-game interviews of the thing that I call “teaminess“. These guys have a lot of that. I believe OSU has the best chance to win everything this year of any team out there. I expect them to come out tomorrow morning ready to roll, play hard focused ball, win by a lot and have a lot of fun doing it.
