C.J. Stroud is the new Heisman Trophy favorite.

In the aftermath of an offensive explosion against No. 19 Purdue, Stroud now has the best odds to win the 2021 Heisman Trophy on the FanDuel Sportsbook.

Stroud currently has +125 odds, ahead of Alabama quarterback Bryce Young's +250 and Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker III's +450. Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson is on the board too, but in a distant sixth with +5000 odds.

It makes sense. There are 3 leading candidates. Stroud’s stats are very similar to Bryce Young’s, and Stroud has high profile games left. Bryce Young also has to face the Georgia defense the day before most voters send in their ballots. Winning this week, with a lot of passing yards against a leaky Sparty pass defense, especially if the Buckeyes limit Walker to non-spectacular numbers, will put him ahead of Walker in most voters’ minds.

I wonder if Ryan Day will allow Stroud to make his Heisman statement in this game. I know he doesn't like to pour it on teams so if MSU isn't scoring to keep up I think he'll call off the dogs. Would be sweet though if he puts up 5 or 6 TDs with a high percentage and no TO's. Can't wait to watch it unfold

I really like Stroud, but Heisman conversation is nonsense. He's not even the best player on his own team....which is like being the shortest giant.

Most years I would be with you, but this year I don't know that there is really someone I think that has pulled away...absent maybe Kenneth Walker, but back to the point of the Heisman being a QB award now made above. If he plays well the next 2-3 games, I can very easily see him winning it given the rest of the field right now. Anywhere in between, then no, probably not.
