QB CJ Stroud (All B1G, 2022 B1G QB of the Year, All-American, NFL OROY, Houston Texans)

Those last two stats are devastating to the opponents. If he builds on this and keeps growing, he might become an all time favorite for a lot of people.

Addressing some saying people were rooting against Stroud. I didn't see much of that. What i saw are people expecting mistake free QB play. That might not be fair but, hey, this is Ohio State you're playing for not Indiana or something. You better have a thick skin to go along with your incredible resume because you'll need it here. They earn for a lifetime on the field here and the benefits don't come cheap but they come deep. In the end Buckeyes want championships so that might mean next man up or step it up. Stroud, this week anyway, stepped up huge

Here's the way I see it. Stroud didn't do anything weeks 1-3 to lose the job...But at the same time, he didn't go out and TAKE it. He didn't leave no doubt that he was THE guy. Saturday, against Rutgers, he did just that. He proved to everyone why he was Day's pick to lead this team. Can't wait to watch him get better and better. This team could be scary good by November.

Then you must not been on any Buckeye sites outside of BP. Because many(not all) OSU fans were all for benching Stroud for McCord(or even for those who really have no clue, for Ewers). On pretty much all social media, 11W, Bucknuts, Rivals, etc, fans were out clamoring for McCord, especially before the Akron game. Haskins and especially Fields set the bar ridiculously high for whomever was going to follow them. And the fact that Stroud had never thrown a pass before the Minny game, made matters that much more difficult. We are a fan base with VERY high standards, and for the most part our players step up to the plate. And if they cant, they get replaced. But it looks like Stroud is starting to turn the corner and be the QB we expected him to be. Its funny that so many don't realize how freshman get better over time and with more reps, he wasn't going to be a finished product his 1st few games in

I'm like @Bestbuck36 , in that I didn't see much of the calling for McCord but to your point, I only interact with Buckeye fans here at BP. I do visit 11W but just to read the articles.

Anyway, he wasn't Justin Fields from day 1 but looks a lot more comfortable now. I am excited for the immediate future and the next 3 years.

With a few notable exceptions, BP's regular contributors have been much more mature and rational about Stroud than most of the Buckeyesphere.

By far the majority of the stupidity vis a vis Stroud comes from the fools who post only in game threads, and only when things are not going well. They come out of the woodwork at such times, but overall the number of posts is below the noise floor and probably not worth the time it took to type this.

I think this week sets up great for CJ, gets go against a mediocre team to gain additional confidence. Then will get a bye week to rest and recalibrate. Then the real challenge starts the beef of the BIG schedule. I was one of the individuals intrigued to see what McCord could do. I believe he will be in the NFL one day. However McCord is in the same position like Stroud is and needs time. The issue with the arm was a concern for me, not sure if that was a mental or physical thing. May have been a bit of both. Either way look forward to CJ continuing to shine!

I have to admit something felt off to me with Stroud the first 3 weeks but what I saw vs Rutgers seals it all for me. I suppose what I saw wasn't the "it" factor being missing but CJ being injured. CJ looked like the best QB in the country last week when he was healthy and if he follows it up with a strong performance this week no one will doubt him.

After the Akron game I admitted that CJ is 100% our best QB and after Rutgers I have to admit he's without a doubt the best in the B1G and 1 of the top 5 in the country as a freshman.

Kirk Herbstreit names top-performing players in Week 5

6. QB C.J. STROUD — OHIO STATE

Stroud returned in a big way against Rutgers. While he was not tossing it at Justin Fields levels yet, Stroud was impressive early on. Against Rutgers, he dissected the Scarlet Knights defense with ease. He finished the day 17 of 23 passing for 330 yards and five touchdowns. It was a return to form for Ohio State as a whole, taking down Rutgers 52-13 on the road in a relatively surprising one-sided affair.
