Just getting back from the weekend so I'm sure this is repetitive of others but what the hell;

Stroud isn't Justin Fields but he's damn sure not a real concern for me. He will be just fine in a Ryan Day offense with the amount of talent that surrounds him. Eventually he'll have to be a bit more accurate and deliver in some 3rd/4th down situations. If that isn't happening later then it's a thing, until now the kid did pretty damn well against a tough defense (even if it was without it's best two players.)

OHIO STATE QUARTERBACK C.J. STROUD EARNS SECOND CONSECUTIVE BIG TEN FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK AWARD DESPITE LOSS TO OREGON



Stroud completed 35 of 54 passing attempts for 484 yards – all numbers that rank as the second-most ever by an Ohio State quarterback in a single game – in Ohio State's 35-28 loss to Oregon. Though he did throw a costly late-game interception when the Buckeyes needed a touchdown to tie the game, his 484 passing yards against the Ducks are the most by any Football Bowl Subdivision quarterback in any game yet this season.

Stroud also received Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors for his performance against Minnesota in the Buckeyes' season opener.

After re-watching the game, I can honestly contend that CJ may have made the most impressive throw of the 2021 CFB season thus far, and then point to 3 throws and pick from any of em as the example. It's a testament to that elite accuracy that we've heard his receivers and coaches praise him for all offseason. Now, not even the biggest Buckeye homer of all would argue that he was spectacular overall, because the mistakes and misthrows are glaring. But, in just two games, I think he's demonstrated that once he settles into a game, he can hang with the best of em. He has done enough to keep that starting job, and there's plenty of encouraging reasons to believe that those miscues will become less and less frequent as he accumulates experience. I don't attribute his bad plays to inability or lack of potential, but rather inexperience

EDIT: this was one of my favorites. Tight window into contested coverage and puts it right where it needs to be. ELITE

No question. Especially in his first action with obvious room for improvement. He won’t ever be the runner Justin is, but once he develops his touch on short to intermediate throws, he’s gonna be a serious problem.
