CJ coming back would make more sense to me than Olave returning. Not from a money standpoint but in the sense that I do see a lot of personal reasons why CJ might not be ready to shut that door given how things have gone the last two years. That said, it's 99.9% certain that he's gone.

Not going to happen, he'll declare soon. Really not a bad thing for either side. I don't see CJ having any higher stock than after the UGA game and regardless, if you're a top 10 pick at a position you can easily get hurt at, then you go pro. I would love to have him back despite the mass transfers that would likely happen, but CJ is ready for the next step and we're ready to find the next guy up.

I had to come over here and see what was being said after I heard about this.
It seems kind of insane. He is a QB projected to go in the first 10 for sure. I have seen as high as 1/2 in some projections. That means over 20M signing bonus range. You are all done at that point. If you have any type of financial planner you are set for life. The number to stay I have heard is around 4M which again is nice but not quite I AM DONE money.
Clearly the one unknown is if he really is pissed about not winning the Natty and feels he has unfinished business. Not that I want to open that wound but he was bad ass in that game and if Georgia is not allowed to blatantly cheap shot Jr. and knock him out of the game I like the Bucks chances to win that game.
Funny how the Dawgs have benefitted but other teams best WR getting knocked out of games the last 2 years.
Anyway, unless he has a serious Natty pain I do not see the logic here. That is life changing cash waiting for him. And if he actually becomes a good starter in the NFL it is generational money for a QB. So why wait to start that clock. And yes of course it will be there regardless. He is not gong anywhere. But just from a pure money perspective it is interesting.
If he stays he suddenly becomes one of the most interesting college athletes to me. Says a lot about how he is wired. Because he would be clearly saying that money is not everything and that winning and leavng his mark means more to him.

I don't think the hit on MHJr was a cheap shot. I think the Georgia player was trying to make sure the catch wasn't made, or, if it was, he's out of bounds for it. I don't think the intent was to hit him in the head illegally. That said, I do think it should have been kept as "targeting". Taking that off kept Ohio State out of the national championship. Of course, there are other reasons Ohio State lost the game - not just that one play, but it was one of the reasons.

As for "other teams' best WR", who else has missed games? (Asking because I don't follow players outside of Ohio State closely enough to know the answer - I'm not trying to say you're wrong.)

Stroud is the first Ohio State quarterback since Bellisari to lose to *ichigan twice. That was 1999 and 2000. And he's the first starting quarterback at Ohio State to not win a conference championship in his career since Braxton Miller in 2011-2013. To me, those are great reasons to come back and rectify. However, college is college. $20M+ is the rest of your life.

I selfishly hope he comes back, but he really should go pro now.

Yep the only reason to come back is unfinished business. He's already at the top of the draft board.

And as much as I would love him to come back and beat TSUN and make a run for the National championship. We can point simply to JSN why that isn't necessarily a good idea. Let alone the millions he will leave on the table

There's not a ton of risk in football these days in regard to coming back IMO.

Medicine has come a long way. To the point where injury generally isn't career ending etc.

Should he come back? No.

Will I understand if he does? Absolutely. He'll probably make upward of 5 mil and can potentially finish all his goals with an offense that returns every skill player. This was an offense that shredded UGA... The potential is there to have a unique offense and he probably knows that.

Again, he shouldn't come back but totally understand if he does.

I wouldn't. His goal from the time he was a little kid was to get to the NFL. He can literally do that now, making millions AND be in a prime position to be a starter in a year or two in the league.

I obviously wouldn't say no thanks due to the very reasons above. But I also wouldn't be able to understand the reasons either.

He will be under a microscope in the NFL but he will be allowed to make mistakes and grow ..at tOSU he can’t make any mistakes.,he has to beat scUM and win his last game.. he went through scruitiny last year. He can play well and OSU loses. Leave now and be a year closer to 150 to230 million guaranteed.

One word explains why C.J. Stroud hasn’t declared for the NFL Draft yet

Why in the world has C.J. not posted a sentimental graphic thanking Buckeye Nation for the best three years of his life, but telling us that he’s leaving Columbus to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a professional football player?

Well, if I had to guess, it’s because of pride; and not the “goeth before the fall” type, but rather the type where someone places tremendous value in their name and legacy and the mark that they leave on the things, people, and places that mean the most to them. The type that would be hurt knowing that — even though he was a two-time Heisman finalist and climbed to the upper echelons in the record books of one of the most storied college football programs in the country — he was 0-2 against his rival, won zero Big Ten titles, and never raised a national championship trophy.

I don’t really buy that there’s a decision to be made….he openly stated he’d prob sit out of the bowl game and let younger guys get the PT (when it was assumed we prob wouldn’t be in CFP).

So if he is sincerely rethinking whether to go pro or not, you’d have to point to his play in the CFP and seeing his game go up another level. The only thing that’d make sense to me, is if Stroud feels like he’s going to end up in a shitty franchise and he’d rather collect some NIL $$$ and continue his development under Day.

My guess is Stroud’s agent is furiously trying to get as much information possible so they know what the most likely scenarios are and then he can make a decision. Nothing else really makes sense to me anyways……

Just a question of curiosity... couldn't schools put together a package for kids like CJ that if the player were to get hurt (in the season they came back for) that the school could pay them over let's say a 20 year time frame?

For example, OSU (collectives) agreeing to pay CJ $50 million over 20 years if he gets hurt. Makes sense at least theoretically.
