QB CJ Stroud (All B1G, 2022 B1G QB of the Year, All-American, NFL OROY, Houston Texans)

One kid nearly carried his team to beat the #1, undefeated defending national champions in what was a de facto home game for them.

The other lost to Tulane.

CJ deserved the Heisman.
Last year, CJ’s historic Rose Bowl performance, combined with Bryce Young losing to UGA, should have resulted in CJ winning the Manning Award, which is supposed to include bowl performances, which the Heisman obviously doesn’t. The Mannings lazily and perhaps with SEC bias gave it to Young, commenting that he had won the Heisman. I was disgusted.

This year, CJ leads the nation in passing efficiency, both before and after the bowl games. He played his ass off against UGA. I don’t think he’ll get the Manning Award this year either, although he is deserving of it. But if they give it to Caleb Williams I won’t be as disappointed as I was last year.

Let’s be honest. If he did this a month ago, it’s his Heisman. You can’t blame the voters really. They did it the way they always do.

I agree, I didn’t say he should have won the Heisman - sure, if he had won The Game with 4 TDs and no turnovers, he would have.

I said he should have won the Manning last year. It’s a toss-up who they give it to this year, and there are two Heisman finalists with a game still to play.

Hot take, potentially: since they’re revamping every thing with college football (conference realignment, expanded playoffs, NIL), why not just give the Heisman after the season is totally over?

I guess it interferes with NFL playoff narratives (as a straight college fan, I don’t care about it personally), but since it’s to heck with tradition, why not just change that too?

Damn.

I just wish the CJ in that post game pre
sser showed up a year ago. I would go to war anytime with that guy. The fire and heart he showed in this game means everything. Not the stats or the awards, the effort and the will it takes to be an Ohio State quarterback. He finally seems to get it. Buckeye Nation loves the explosive QBs and the winning arms but we absolutely adore the Krenzels and Barrets and Fields who are every breathe fighters. This game was about as close to perfect as a Buckeye QB can get. Wasn't sure he had it in him and it was amazing to get to see it. I hate to see him go to a shit team but I'll root for him anywhere he goes. New Orleans would be perfect wouldn't it?
His performance and grit v Georgia will forever change my perception of him.

He is an all-timer now.
He really is. He was the first player or coach I thought of after the game. In fact I think it's why I was so numb from the loss. Because I saw greatness and a player who tried to put the team on his back but just came up short for no fault of his own. That game changed everything.

Excited to see his professional career.

Needs to go to the right team to succeed(like pretty much every QB). I hope he doesn't get screwed like Fields

The best passing QB that has come through OSU, and it's not particularly close. That's not a slight to Troy, Haskins, or Fields, it's a testament to how good CJ can be when he's on. Can't remember many college QBs that had the arm strength, anticipation, and ball placement he has.

I started to wonder if I had missed something as he looked pedestrian at times after the bye, but after we saw him controlling and stepping up in the pocket against the best defense in the country, it's clear he's capable of huge strides when he has time to work through fundamentals. Those kind of post-season improvements in short periods of time tell me that the sky's the limit in the NFL.

Didn't realize that, thanks for the link. Seems like Houston, Seattle or Indy are the most likely destinations then...hopefully not Houston even though that would make him the first or second pick.
Atlanta or Vegas would be decent spots to land as well.
Bryce Young is probably going #1 to Houston

Why the Lol?
Vegas has better skill position talent than Houston or Indy who are picking 1 and 2. They also better skill position talent than Atlanta as well
They have Talent but that's not their Issue it's coaching. If I was rookie I'd rather have a good coach then talent around me.

Now Houston has a meh Coach. Indy has no coach. And I don't even remember who Atlanta has so that might be a Wash.
