QB CJ Stroud (All B1G, 2022 B1G QB of the Year, All-American, NFL OROY, Houston Texans)

I know it is unlikely, but OSU beating TTUN in the national championship game would turn this into the greatest Buckeye season of my life. There's no better finish, ever.

After the last two installments of THE GAME, the BS, the frustration, it would be glorious. I'm going to enjoy this Harbaugh/Desmond shitburger dream while it's possible.

That's the precise scenario I've been hoping for since walking out of the Shoe on November 26. Got a huge task to get there, but man I want that. As to CJ, he just waned too much towards the end of the year. Just above average against ttun probably gets the Heisman, but as others have said there's a bigger trophy he can hoist in 2023 if he gets back to form.

Duggan at TCU is the perfect example of why Buckeye fans would fall in love with him in Columbus. Dude was throwing up going into that OT because he put his body on the line for his team. Not his fault his dumbass coach didnt call the winning play. Sound familiar?

Im pretty sure we never want anyone to get injured but the true winners in this sport are willing to risk it to win for their team. Duggan isn't half the actual QB that CJ is but no one is ever going to question that kids heart like they have been CJs, right or wrong.
there's a word for that.... grit.

Exactly...I have to say, I'm a huge fan of Duggans after watching their last game vs Kansas State.

He's a pretty big kid so he does a great job running the ball etc but there's no reason CJ can't do a little bit of running. Even if it's just 5 yards to stay on schedule...

But there's no sense in hoping for it. He'll be the same vs Georgia...

Btw you can't tell me we don't score 35+ vs ttun if CJ picks up a few first downs with his legs.

Maybe we still lose because of what our defense did that day but it's for sure different.

What I wouldn't give for 5 called QB runs a game.

Not even running, cause he ain't a RB, but just stop acting like he's afraid of contact. I used to think he's just preserving his health for TTUN, but no.

I know CJ can throw a pretty rainbow off his back foot while retreating away from pressure, but what I wouldn't give to see CJ for once stand tall and step into a strike knowing he is going to get hit. I'm sure he would have some chances to do that against UGA, but will he?

So "stop acting like he's afraid of contact" but also "he's afraid of contact"? Haha ok...

those 2.7-3.8 ypc gains with significant bruising of a slight frames QB will surely pay huge dividends.

Particularly when the defense is looking for it and his poor agility gets him rolled up by UGAs big DTs.

he's an okay athlete in a straight line. Not bad, not special.

he's tied with Haskins for the least agile OSU QB since Zwick. Stiffer hipped than Todd or Baus.

I'm not saying run him like JT Barrett. I'm saying to tell him to run it if there's nothing there for him on a roll out. Running 5 yards 5 times a game isn't going to break the kid. If it does then he shouldn't be playing anyways.

Perfect....we've solved it. Now just tell him exactly when to run vs hang around behind the LOS long enough for those sick plays he used to make.

i'm starting to think that it's not a player thing as much as it's a coach (Ryan Day) thing.

for example, Fields could run, but even then it seemed like he was kept on a tight leash. i don't think CJ has shown the *whatever* to tuck and run, but i also don't think Day is discouraging his "i'm not a bird" mentality. and, in general, i don't think in general Day goes for those kinds of QBs and doesn't develop them in that way.

Day's prototypical QB (whether in the NFL or in the NCAA) is a pure pure pocket passer. that's the kind of talent he goes for (when he can). that's what he develops and encourages. that's the kind of offense he wants to employ. pure and simple.
