QB Cardale '12 Gauge' Jones (B1G Champion, National Champion)

Stylistically, I think Wade's Randall Cunningham comparison is spot on. Cardale even had his stiff, more upright running style. Impressed most with Cardale's accuracy and ability to drop that ball right on target over the coverage.

I have been reading the thoughts about Cardale on buckeyeplanet and getting an idea on the impressions he has given the fan base and I seem to be surprised that people are not higher or expecting more during his time at OSU. I tend to think he will need time to learn the new system, as all young OBs do, but his is coming in during a great time to do so as everyone will need time to learn in Urban's first year. Some have stated that due to the break out season that Brax just had that Cardale would likely be a backup during his stay at OSU. Unless I have missed an issue over his avalable time and playable time (-as in did his time in Va. take away from his 5 years to play 4 at OSU?) I could easily see him being a major part of the offense for a year or 2 year period. Also if he gains a workable understanding of the offense could we see a few package plays where both Brax and Cardale are on the field at the same time? Maybe a series or two in his second year to start bridging the gap and develope him some?
I'm not saying he is the second coming of Pryor but he looks like a quality QB to me and I expect him to be more important to us than what many are expecting.

He still has 5 years to play 4. He could redshirt next season then be a Freshman when Brax is a Junior. He would be two years behind Miller.

I've missed this if it was ever stated on BP. It seems to be pretty consistent to me that BPers see Cardale as one of (if not THE) leading candidates to play QB for the two years after Braxton.

I certainly can't speak for everyone, but I'm impressed with what I've seen of Cardale. There is of course the possibility Cardale doesn't develop, but that's true with all recruits. In addition, it appears Cardale is a Buckeye, I've yet to hear one word about the depth chart, or having to sit behind Braxton, or what kind of an offense...:)

Throwing motion reminds me of a cross between Rivers and Pryor. He shot puts it out there and uses poor footwork but the tools are there to be coached. I also believe that the humility he learned from taking a year at FUMA will have a huge impact on his future.

Do you have a link? All I can find on Youtube is from his time at Glenville. Thanks

I saw it at scout, but I'm pretty sure it's behind the paywall... I'm sure it'll make it's ways onto youtube sooner or later.

He's very strong (almost looks like a tall rush end), keeps his eyes downfield, and puts the ball on the money when he's on the run. Rushing the ball he's a long strider, and seems to be able to get the edge fairly easily (at that level anyway). His throwing motion is like a fast forwarded version of TP's. He takes risks dropping the ball into tight windows, but seems to focus on 1/2 of the field alot.

Reminds me of EJ Manuel from 3-4 classes ago.
