QB Cardale '12 Gauge' Jones (B1G Champion, National Champion)

He's shown a great amount of growth and maturity from 18 to 21. Three years at a world class university has perhaps expanded Cardale's horizons beyond the foolsball.
Isn't that how it works for most college kids? I think back to freshmen year southcampus and the memory alone is enough to make me cringe/smile/laugh. But by the time I turned 22, I'd like to think I was light years more intelligent, socially-cognizant, and forward looking than I was in my earlier years. That's what's great about going to college.

I think far too many at times forget that college football is just that, COLLEGE football. These kids are going to class on Monday, living in a dorm, or ratty apartment with a bunch of buddies, drinking Natty light, riding bikes or catching rides to class and eating pizzas at 2am. Just like many of us who attended college. These aren't professionals getting paid(though they make millions for various entities) and many are maturing on the fly, like college kids do. These guys who have 100,000+ cheer for them on Saturdays are sometimes crashing on buddies floors after games or studying for an Econ test on Sunday.

Cardale Jones continued crushing on Ronda Rousey during UFC 190
By Adam Silverstein | CBSSports.com Staff

Ohio State quarterback and Twitter superstar Cardale Jones cannot hide his affection for undefeated UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, not that he has any reason to.

Jones' courtship of Rousey continued in a playful and genuine way Saturday as he -- and the rest of the sports-watching world -- waited patiently for Rousey to take on Bethe Correia in the main event of UFC 190. Rousey, of course, improved to 12-0 by dominating Correia in 34 seconds.

Everything Changed for Ohio State's Cardale Jones in a Year. Does He Have to Change Too?
Playing grown-up
By Zac Jackson

Cardale Jones took off on another Twitter spree two weeks ago. He does that. But this time, the guy once best known for famously tweeting that he didn't come to Ohio State to "play school" was taking on social issues and incisively beating back condescending replies.

This particular late July day's thoughts started with Jones sharing the #BlackLivesMatter hashtag. Then discussing the #AllLivesMatter responses he received. Then making national headlines with his retort to someone who told Jones to "worry about getting us fans another national championship...stay out of this bullshit.""Sorry Mr. master," Jones replied. "I aints allow to tweet nothing but foolsball stuff I donts want you to think I more than a foots ball playa sir."

Even Buckeye haters had to love it; many of them tweeted as much. The territorial lines are drawn hard and fast in college football, and in recent years many have looked at the Big Ten with a mix of hatred and pity. They found bogeymen in Terrelle Pryor and Jim Tressel, for different reasons. In Jones, champion of college football and Twitter and eating at Chipotle, even parochially inclined SEC diehards have found someone worth enjoying — and maybe even rooting for.

The Year of Cardale rolls on. Like he did with a first-drive touchdown pass in the Big Ten Championship, and later when Alabama's Landon Collins tried to take him down in the open field in the Sugar Bowl, he's crushed it.

ON A SCALE OF 1-10, OHIO STATE'S URBAN MEYER SAYS CARDALE JONES' GROWTH IS A 10

57114_h.jpg,qitok=Lyygf06z.pagespeed.ce.6444No3Jcy.jpg

Urban Meyer once said Cardale Jones had a “one-way bus ticket back to Cleveland" if he didn't get his head on straight.

Now, Ohio State's head coach isn't shy about shining praise toward the player who quarterbacked the Buckeyes to Big Ten, Sugar Bowl and national championships to cap the 2014 season.

"On a 1-10 (scale), 10. I did not see that in him and that's not a shot, that's on his eval," Meyer said in Chicago at Big Ten Media Days. "But his preparation for the Alabama game has just changed my whole (perspective), and really it's continued all the way through."

Jones' regain of focus obviously came with knowing he was Ohio State's lone realistic option at quarterback for the postseason once J.T. Barrett suffered a fractured ankle in the regular season finale against Michigan.

JT Barrett stole Cardale Jones' keys, locked him out of his apartment

The Ohio State quarterback competition is underway in Columbus, but the battle between J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones has apparently extended well off the field into the realm of practical jokes.

According to a barrage of tweets from Jones, J.T. Barrett stole his keys and locked him out of his apartment. Check out the evidence below:

"Cardale Jones! Cardale Jones! The whole state of Ohio is counting on Cardale Jones!" - Gus Johnson

That opening segment from the Big Ten Championship from Gus Johnson was awesome. I wish he commentated every game!
Just watched that game again yesterday, and I was cracking up at Gus shouting" CARDALE JONES" that the whole game, especially after Charles Davis mentioned that HE was a life-long scUM fan! :slappy:
