Purdue at #15 Ohio State, Tues 1/19 6:30 ET on BTN

I'm also not a bit fan of just sitting back and letting the opposing team drain a game-winner on your head with like 2 seconds to play. I'd pressure the ball--maybe you get a steal, maybe a turnover, maybe the offense goes faster than it wants to, and you get the ball back a bit earlier (assuming they make the shot). But doing what OSU did--sitting back and letting them take their game--gives you about zero chance to win or tie if they hit the shot at the end (which they did here).

They've given up a astronomical amount of horribly wide open 3s this season. It happens but these guys seem to let it up more than normal.

Holt made a mistake not letting Jallow, your best defender, have any chance to help get stops at the end of the game when they had a chance to make subs for defense for each possession. Your team's strength is depth and varied skills, that's why you put in Jallow to guard Ivey, or sub him in for Ahrens. No way are Sueing or Ahrens close to the level of defender that Jallow is. I know your roster has no defensive stopper at the post, that is a flaw you just have to live with and that definitely hurts vs a team like Purdue. IDK if Jallow is in the doghouse or what, but no excuse to not put him out there when there are at least two guys he could have been subbed for defensively. I credit Ivey for making big plays, but OSU didn't put their best foot forward defensively by a long shot, and that is disappointing.

TBH, this was a let-down spot for OSU, coming home after two big road wins vs ranked teams, and this game was moved so OSU had 2 days between games instead of 3. I wouldn't be surprised if they had to take one of those two days off. They weren't sharp at all the second half, they could definitely have used a lead guard out there on the court to keep them organized. Purdue is also a talented and deep team. Altogether, I expect a better effort and performance from OSU on Saturday.

Didn't get my usual game alert and missed this one. Seems like it slipped away much like the NW game... two games now where we should have pulled it out and it makes a big difference in the grand scheme of things. But I guess you could also look at the Illinois game from the outside looking in and think we got away with one there, and to some extent the ND game earlier in the year, so maybe it all equals out. This conference is tough and deep as hell, I suppose these types of losses will happen. Big opportunity on Saturday to right the wrong.
