I'd just remind them that Northwestern and Purdue have better B10 win %'s than PSU this century, let alone OSU, scUM and Wisky.:wink2:

And add to that the fact we're 5-1 against Michigan since 2001 while Penn State is 0-4 (and have lost 8 straight to Michigan).

I would like to get a PSU perspective on this. Is there any PSU fan looking at BP's recruiting forum that can explain just what the hell is going on over there for the program to actually present that thing in public. It is very funny though.

College Football Fan Hypocrisy Knows No Bounds



Let's try a little exercise for a moment here. Close your eyes and think of a 'crooked' college football program. What comes to mind? USC? Florida State? Ohio State? Alright now close your eyes and think of a 'clean' college football program. Now what comes to mind? Penn State probably tops that list what with Joe Paterno and all the talk of doing things the right way, right?

But is there really a significant ethical difference between many of these schools?

Let's take a closer look at Penn State for a moment. They've spent the greater part of four decades cultivating an image as college football's white picket fence and apple pie team. They are led by the amiable, cuddly and grandfatherly Joe Paterno, among the most respected coaches in the game's history. They wear simple blue and white uniforms without names on the backs. They play in gritty western Pennsylvania and graduate their players.

This is big time college football, every single program is going to sin and sin often. A fans' hypocrisy often knows no bounds and it's best to be mindful of how things really are before casting aspersions against rival programs.

I have to say, I don't think very much of that article. It's all kinds of fun to make fun of Penn State for honoring a railing (especially when, frankly, they've got plenty else to be proud of without inventing other crap.) But that blogger seems to be slinging mud for no other reason other than to distract people from the problems at other schools. It's not hypocrisy, for example, for the media to semi-ignore the LaVon Chisley situation while piling on schools like Miami. Penn State's spent decades building a good clean reputation, so it's not hard to give them a pass. It's not indicative of their reputation. The Miami's and USC's of the world have spent that same time building a very questionable reputation. Sorry, this is going to sound coldhearted and crude, but when Bryan Pata was shot and the headline read, "Miami football player killed," who among us was surprised to see Miami's name up there? Don't deny that that incident had the same effect on people as it would have if it were Penn State, Duke, Northwestern, etc. Compare it to the Northern Colorado punter situation. Which was more surprising?

The guy didn't even have his facts straight on the Broderick Green/Joe McKnight comparison, and then brushed it off as a product of a "technicality" and labyrinthine bylaws. Never mind that it was easy enough for about 15 Joe Schmoe Nittany Lion fans to call him on. Surely if the average blog reader knows the rule, the PSU coaches are all over it.

Funny how he sidesteps his error as "bylaw/technicality hell" when in fact he is seriously in the wrong and should be punished for such accusations. I knew that, I don't even follow recruiting much.

Anyway, he tries to carry the point anyway and his article fails miserably.

Anyone have opinions about JoePa's comment about Jarret? I didn't follow his recruiting, but I don't see hatred or the like.
