PSU - the rise of a new rule :-p

Penn State took J.B. Walton and Daryll Clark. Why would they not take Jarrett? Gimme a break Paterno.
JoePa was cagily playing to the academic snobbery nerve in his audience. (Better to claim he wasn't good enough to get into Penn State, rather than simply admit you had no chance of beating Pete Carroll to net Jarrett's John Hancock).

Has anyone ever posted this on a PSU site and found out if its real? I still have a hard time believing they are that pathetic (trust me I want to believe they are that pathetic...I fucking HATE PSU).

It is real, it was posted on one of their sites if not several (I know I have seen it on the Scout board - you might find it there if it has not been deleted).

Racking my brain I recall that their major defense centered upon Buckeye fans discovering this tidbit quite late - as in it was put up quite soon after the game, not as a new inspirational item this year. Yes, that really was the line. Dismissal for no cause, as if Buckeye fans have nothing better to do than check out each nook and cranny of that dilapidated stadium on a daily basis. Makes one wonder what their posters would have said had this been revealed within a month of that game?

Nobody really tackled the issue of how lame the concept itself truly is.

I've been told it's some yutz (at Penn State? that narrows it down :p) who has it up in a dorm room.

That makes a lot more sense.

Still, someone should take apart his little shrine and beat him to death with the rail before he can contaminate the gene pool.

It's the time of "spin".
A losing coach(Zook) sells his program by telling recruits how he(almost)beat Ohio State. They won 4 games in 2 years!
A program that has been mediocre for a decade(ND) boosts about almost beating USC.
A old in the tooth(if he has any left) coach, Paterno, is talking smack about the Buckeyes and an Ohio State education. And graduation rates.
But, "We're back!"

Those fuckers! Penn State is such a wannabe program, always copying The Big Boys (tm) like Ohio State. That's virtually a carbon copy of "The Rail" display that's going into the WHAC this year, commemorating our victory over Penn State in 2006 and the TD pass that all but ended the Heisman race in October.

Of course, our rail wasn't from the AA or A deck seats that kept the fans back off the field, rather our rail is the one from the handicapped stall in the PSU locker room where Joe Pa spent the better part of 2 quarters shitting himself at the awesomeness of Troy Smith.

The Bucks had already lost to Texas at home and PSU was undefeated and at home and it's in "the biggest upset in history" territory...

Was this in Indiana or State College?

On the other hand it's nice to know that they consider beating the Buckeye's a very big deal, unlike, oh, shall we say, those folks in Ann Arbor who maintain their Big Game is with the Spartans...

oh and who didn't notice that Henne, Hart and company didn't say they wanted to stay for their fourth year to try and beat MSU.

It's a little late but that post deserved a GPA. Geez, I spit coffee on the walls and had to change my shirt. :slappy:

Maybe we should remind them that they are 5-9 against us all-time in Big Ten play, including 1-4 over the last five years and 0-7 at The Shoe. Oh yeah, they've cracked double digits at The Shoe one time in those seven games and scored exactly 10 points in that game. Average score of those seven games: 28-7.

In 1963 the Lions came into the Shoe unranked and made fools out of a #1 ranked Buckeye team. Something like 42 - 14. I was there to watch it all and it wasn't very pretty. The aptly named Rip Engle was the head coach for PSU then I believe so it must have been one of his last years before Joe Pa took over.

The teams played in Columbus in both '63 and '64, but I think you're recalling the '64 game. tOSU was 4-1-1 and #10 when the teams played in '63, and lost 10-7.

In '64, tOSU was #1 for two weeks, and had dropped to #2 (behind the Domers) in the AP poll just before the PSU game, due to a 21-19 win in Iowa City the week before. The Buckeyes may have still been #1 in the Coaches Poll, but I don't have the week-by-week info for that one.

IN '64 the final was 27-0 PSU. Engle's last year was in '65.
