That's hilarious considering that, had Villanova lost tonight, he would of had a less impressive resume than Thad despite being at Villanova four years longer.

Hopefully Matta brings in one bad ass defensive coach and a great fundamentals coach to help out. Then see if who stays or comes in develops at all.
Lyle has to figure out how to distribute the ball without distributing to the other team. Loving needs to man up and give himself up for the team. I feel like everything else will fall into place if those things happen.

Boy, who wouldn't love the job of "ball screen situation counter?"
I was thinking the same thing. That's without factoring in any jerks that stopped by to throw out numbers and sabotage the already ridiculous activity.

This is the problem nowadays in major college basketball. Players have all these voices in their ears, telling them what type of player they are, what type of offense they need to be in, how amazing they are as a pro prospect, etc. There is very little true sense of self in these kids, as all they've heard is how great they are. Then, they are recruited by coaches who see tangible talent, and are told things like "We can see you running our offense in ball screen situations" or "We think you can develop into a 4 at this level," and these kids expect immediate gratification and immediate satisfaction. They expect for things to be given right away, especially when they have Uncle John or an AAU coach or a "trainer" in their ear. But, after year one they haven't shown the ability to be productive yet in those situations, and they've not been guaranteed anything moving forward by their coach until they show it.
Who looks at AJ Harris and doesn't believe that by his junior year, if he puts in the time and effort, he could be a productive PG at OSU? Who sees Daniel Giddens play, and doesn't think that with his motor and what seems to be a very strong work ethic, he could develop into a guy that can consistenly make a 15 foot jumper while still battling on the glass and causing havoc on the defensive end? These are talented kids. YET, they want to see it happen right away. They believe they deserve immediate gratification because they signed on.
In college basketball and the 1-and-done culture, very few kids anymore believe in or understand the notion that true development takes time. Give AJ Harris, Daniel Giddens, or Mickey Mitchell a little more time and they would/could/should be productive players at OSU in the Thad Matta system. Unfortunately, time is not something many are willing to sacrifice any longer.
