Premier League (Official Thread)

Well Liverpool sure shit the bed today. Just fell apart after Gerrard's penalty was saved & West Brom got the opener. I think the big league for United is huge for them, because they can focus on the UCL now with the 1st leg at the Bernabeu coming up on Wednesday. What a mammoth matchup that is going to be. If they can make it past Madrid, which is going to be extremely difficult given that Madrid is completely out of the running for La Liga being down 16 points to Barcelona & all, they can make more of a focus on that being ahead so much in the BPL. That might be looking to far ahead because Madrid will be putting all of there eggs in the UCL basket, because it's the only competition that really matters to them anymore, even though they're still in the Copa del Rey semi-finals against Barcelona. I just think if they can get past Madrid, this big lead is going to help them out monumentally in the UCL with the ability to rest players for crucial knockout round games midweek.

The other great thing for United are they play Reading in the FA cup and the BPL over the next 6 weeks and their other BPL games are against QPR, Norwich and West Ham. While there are rarely easy games in the BPL, playing teams in 11th, 14th, 18th & 20th place sure are nicer than having to play other top teams while having 2 games against Real mixed in there. And to make matters even sweeter, City play Chelsea on 2/24. If that game ends in a draw or Chelsea win and United beat QPR, the lead becomes 14 or 15 and that would be a HUGE mountain to climb.

Didn't realize there schedule set up so perfectly for them in the Madrid tie. That's even more of a plus for them as well as City & Chelsea squaring off in two weeks. This can really help there confidence playing against some of the weaker BPL teams as well as being able to rest some of there better players if need be.

Listening to a previous show of "Keys and Gray" (Monday). Discussed if Gareth Bale is now the third-best player in the world.

Not regarding Bale, but rarely, if ever, is a defender even in the conversation of World's Best Player

The only ones I can think of are Franz Beckenbauer, Paolo Maldini, Roberto Carlos, Franco Baresi, Gaetano Scirea, Elias Figueroa, Bobby Moore and Nilton Santos. It is rare but, it does happen.
