Premier League (Official Thread)

A couple West Brom players haven't exactly covered themselves in glory this week. First Odemwingie, now Popov. Not only did Popov's red card leave them a man down, they had to take off Lukaku to try to preserve a draw.

Pretty much, feels like Liverpool has left 4 points behind in the past two weeks, played, took the lead, made fatal mistakes that forced a draw.

Just when you think they're ready to turn the corner, they always find a way to blow it. Let's face it, this Liverpool team isn't ready this season to make a run for the top four, but I definitely think they will be in the next few years with all of the experience the plethora of young players they use are gaining. They have five guys who've started at least 10 or more games in all competitions that are 22 or younger.

Yeah, this year is seeming further and further out of reach. They need to focus on Europe as that's the last league other than EPL they are in. I do see improvement with every match, but being a Liverpool fan is quite frustrating as you can see they are good enough to match up with anyone, they just seem to find a way to draw or lose.

Brenden is a lot better than Kenny in getting the team to work together, Suarez is a completely different player from last year and Sturridge is a great addition and gives the team a whole new dimension. Now they just need to be consistent. If they continue to improve I see an easy top 4 finish next year.

Even with the frustration of this season I can say that the future looks bright for Liverpool.

Who do you see Liverpool passing to get into the top 4 in the BPL? I don't think they are ready to challenge the 2 Manchester teams and I think Chelsea will spend more money to address their current issues. That leaves 4th place to be fought over by Everton, Liverpool, Tottenham and anyone else who makes a run at it. The BPL is just a hard place to play these days.

Honestly, I think Liverpool can compete just fine with City, the addition of Van Persie makes a huge difference for United, but you can see on the field that they can keep up with anyone. Chelsea and City both have huge questions, mainly, what is going to happen with thier managers at the end of the season. We all know that Benitez isn't going to be at Chelsea, and who the hell are they going to hire? I mean they have hired big name after big name, and I don't think even Blues fans are so delusional that they think Sir Alex is going to jump ship and the mad Russian is not about to rehire someone he fired. As for City, Mancini knew last year that if he didn't win the Premier league he was gone and this year they are completely falling apart, he's having issues with players, so one is left to wonder what will happen to him at the end of the season. With the type of money being spent, they should be putting a lot more hardware into the trophy cabinet.

Everton, Tottenham, and Arsenal all have their upsides and downsides, but the talent gap isn't as huge as the big money teams, if Chelsea and City had the managing talent that united has with Fergie, I think it would make the BPL a lot more exciting. Also, with Everton and Liverpool it's always a toss up, Everton plays Liverpool really hard, and Liverpool often fails to show up to the Derby.

As I said, I don't realistically seeing it happen this year, I think that opportunity went away over the last two weeks when Liverpool left 4 points behind due to mistakes. But it will be interesting to see how they finish off this season, last year the wheels fell off and they dropped over the last 10 games, hopefully this year we can reverse that trend.

Gareth Bale to the rescue...again. Dembele is sure going to be feeling that Cabaye tackle. Looked painful to say the least.

One of the best finishes to a game you'll ever see. Frantic stuff. End to end. Great game.

I agree that Van Persie is the reason United win #20 this year. City and Chelsea are 2 of the worst managerial spots in the world. Why would anyone take those jobs. United spend money wisely and City just spent money. No rhyme nor reason to some of their purchases. Maybe it is just my intense hatred of Liverpool that keeps me thinking they are further away than they really are to challenging for a top 4 finish. This year is setting up to be a really boring run in to the end of the BPL season. A 4 game lead with 12 to go is not helping put the pressure on United.

Well Liverpool sure shit the bed today. Just fell apart after Gerrard's penalty was saved & West Brom got the opener. I think the big league for United is huge for them, because they can focus on the UCL now with the 1st leg at the Bernabeu coming up on Wednesday. What a mammoth matchup that is going to be. If they can make it past Madrid, which is going to be extremely difficult given that Madrid is completely out of the running for La Liga being down 16 points to Barcelona & all, they can make more of a focus on that being ahead so much in the BPL. That might be looking to far ahead because Madrid will be putting all of there eggs in the UCL basket, because it's the only competition that really matters to them anymore, even though they're still in the Copa del Rey semi-finals against Barcelona. I just think if they can get past Madrid, this big lead is going to help them out monumentally in the UCL with the ability to rest players for crucial knockout round games midweek.
