Blackburn and Wolves will play each other on the final weekend. This game will be huge for survival in the Prem. Blackpool better hope Sir Alex puts out the entire second team. Birmingham could lose both of their last 2 games and face the drop. The last weekend will be a great one.

Wolves just needs a deaw in that one I think, given where they are...I expect Blackpool will face the training team, so they have a good shot as well. Birmingham, all of a sudden, as you say is the team with issues.

Hammers were already down with the draw. But giving up the game-winner that late (94th min.) is like getting kicked in the privates - especially since they had a 2-0 lead.

I'm sure someone will enjoy some of the Hammer cast-offs.

Got some action next weekend down at the bottom and Wigan stayed in the race.

West Ham officially relegated after blowing a 2-0 lead. Birmingham lose 2-0 to Fulham. Arsenal lose to Aston Villa and City can take 3rd if they win on Tuesday.

15. Blackburn - 40 points (-14 GD)
16. Wolves - 40 points (-19)
17. Birmingham - 39 points (-20)
18. Blackpool - 39 points (-21)
19. Wigan - 39 points (-22)

Next weekend Blackburn go to Wolves, Blackpool go to United, Wigan go to Stoke, and Birmingham go to Spurs, who will probably have to win if they want to hold onto 5th.

Wigan has 39 and -22 after the late goal

Time for some "Juve-style" bribery for some clubs heading into next weekend. Cut some deals

Speaking of Liverpool adding weapons...they are rumored to be in the lead for Aston Villa man Ashley Young in a transfer.

He's been playing like he wants out all year long, like a petulent child. Its a shame too, because he, Downing and Bent could have formed a fairly potent frontline of attack for Villa in the future.

With the big win today at Emirates, the Villans are finally safe after a long and disappointing season that saw their manager (Martin O'Neil) resign just before the season; their best player (Milner) transferred to Man City after the first game; and their replacement manager (Houllier) hospitalized with 4 matches remaining, likely ending his storied career.

Darren Bent = Savior.

I fully expect Wigan and Birmingham to go down next Sunday. Blackburn and Wolves will both be playing like their hair is on fire, as a win means certain survival. Wigan won't find Stoke in a very good mood and they will want to end their season on a better note than losing the FA Cup final and their last Prem game. Birmingham will be playing a Tottenham team with everything to play for. So after this weekends scores, I think Blackpool can make it another year in the Prem. A draw and they may be safe. That is achievable when you have to expect SAF to put out a 2nd choice team, even though the League will bitch and moan that they didn't field a strong enough team.Next Sunday will be a great day for football.

I was rather surprised neither ESPN2 or Fox Soccer picked up either the Wolves-Blackburn game or the Stoke-Wigan game, considering three of the four are fighting against relegation.

But I can also understand ESPN wanting Man United and the large supporter base against a relegation-fighting Blackpool. Fox Soccer having Birmingham is also understandable against Spurs. Just surprised neither of the two above got picked up.

But if Gomes plays for Spurs, that's entertainment enough.

Blackpool and Birmingham down.

Too bad for Birmingham.

I feel bad for Ian Holloway and Blackpool. They were a pleasure to watch. Blackpool were up on United twice this year and came away with nothing. Birmingham have only themselves to blame for this drop. They are far too good of a team to be going down. Oh well, I won't miss them. After Man United, I root for Aston Villa.

As an Aston Villa supporter, today could not have been any sweeter. Beating LeQuit's Liverpool squad to climb into the top half of the table after a long and difficult season. Then, icing on the cake, with Birmingham going down.

It will be a shame to lose Ashley Young this summer. If they could miraculously get him in the fold, Villa could be very good next year.

Darn, the season's over.

And after next weekend -- unless fans of the Women's WC or MLS -- the season's really over (until the various club tours).

Just on a side note, IMO, ESPN has seemed to improve their coverage with Darke and McManaman and an HD broadcast (they had it in HD before Fox Soccer went to HD).

I just remember getting mad at having to see the same MLB score over-and-over again when ESPN first got EPL rights (on the Bottom Line).

After 90 minutes, I wanted to smash something. Thankfully that's gone (outside of every 30 mins or so). Especially glad it's gone during the recent OSU news (think about seeing that for 90 mins w/ no commercials).

I guess anything is better than Dave O'Brien and Marcelo Balboa from ESPN.

USMNT is in the Gold Cup this summer, support your national team side!

Since Ancelotti is out -- not really a surprise since he was hinting for weeks -- good luck to anyone who works for the "Mad Russian".

I'm losing count of the number of managers he's been going through (j/k - it's six in about eight seasons).

Wow that was some crazy shit today. Was glad to see Wolves pull back from their Mike Hart first half and survive, was hoping for Blackpool too but we got Wigan, which still isn't bad. Was kind of surprised, I flipped over to the very end of the Spurs game from the Wolves game, and when the Spurs dude scored his second to put them into the Europa league, it was like no one could have cared less...was a bit surpised by the completely muted reaction. Still it was weird to see a team that was already qualified for Europa next year go down to the Championship. I am rooting for Norwich to make some noise next year.

Abramovich appears hell bent on ensuring the club under achieves. Torres was a disaster from go. Dispatching Ancellotti doesn't solve the problem.

:sad2:
