Premier League (Official Thread)

With Stevie G out for 3-5 weeks and Keane gone for good how will Liverpool fare in the premiership ? well at least they only have to play Portsmouth and Man City before they face off against Real Madrid in the UCL.

Heh - and this time, there can be NO DRAW

I was thinking another 1-1 game after full time but Everton eventually broke the deadlock in the 118th and penalties were not needed as the Reds crashed out of the FA Cup.

Man U stay top after beating West Ham 1-0 with a Ryan Giggs goal and keep their english record of 13 consecutive premier league clean sheets. Liverpool are 2nd two pts behind with one more game played than Man U and Aston Villa move into 3rd two pts ahead of Chelsea. After a horrid run of play Chelsea have fired manager Luiz Felipe Scolari and remain in 4th place 5 pts ahead of a dreadful Arsenal team.

Chelsea Sack Big Phil

England - Big Phil: Losing Robinho cost me Chelsea job - ESPN Soccernet

England - Scolari sacked as Chelsea manager - ESPN Soccernet

Stuttering Blues sack Scolari :

FOX Sports on MSN - Premier League - Scolari pays the price for Chelsea's dip in form

FOX Sports on MSN - Latin America - Dunga: No doubt about Scolari's skills

I thought he would make it til season's end, but I guess the realization that they may go trophy-less a second straight year proved to be too much for Roman to stomach. Pretty soon that job will be so caustic they won't be able to find a good manager to take the post.

I hate to say it but I think this is a 2 horse race and maybe Aston Villa will break the Big 4's party. They look to be a very good side. Martin O'neil has done wonderfully well for having a budget that pales in comparision to United, Liverpool and Chelsea. Arsenal may be headed for some dark lonely times as a second tier team in the Prem. That squad is paper thin and it lacks any real youth coming up thru the ranks. Money will be a huge issue there. Can they find enough to compete. Villa have long been my second favorite team going back to when they were sponsered by Dr. Marten's. I own 5 pair of Doc's still to this day. How good must it feel for Aston Villa fans to know that Garreth Barry stayed and has really helped that team move into the upper echelon of the Prem. Aston Villa in the Champions League next year? I can only hope so.

I think it would be cool for Aston Villa to make the UCL just so that the "big 4" stranglehold will come to an end. When are Rooney and Evra due back from injury ? I wonder how long Man U will keep their record of time without conceding a goal.

Evra may play this weekend, Rooney reportedly has had a minor setback and probably won't see time until the weekend of the 21st. Well the next game is Fulham and they aren't exactly a potent team up front and then they play Blackburn, both are at Old Trafford. It could go on for those 2 games and not at all suprise me. I would think the law of averages says here soon someone will get one in.

It will be interesting to see how they reintroduce Rooney into the lineup with the first leg of the Inter series being on Tuesday the 24th.

I read on ManUtd.com that they would like to get him some game time against Fulham and then at the weekend prior to the Inter trip.

Well the FA Cup 6th round draw has been done and Chelsea will play away to either Blackburn or Coventry, United will play away to either Fulham or Swansea. The winner of Arsenal and Cardiff have to play Burnley for the right to play the winner of Hull City and Sheffield United. The last fixture will be the the all prem. matchup. Everton will play the winner of Boro and West Ham. Chelsea and Man United were given pretty easy fixtures.

Eduardo da Silva returned from an 11 month absence due to a horrific injury last season to score 2 goals in Arsenal's FA Cup victory over Cardiff City.

Good news to hear that he's back. That injury was gut wrenching. Wasn't there talk about him not being able to play again shortly after it happened?

Anyways, I just turned on FSOHIO, and Liverpool Portsmouth match is on. lol FSOHIO? Really? haha

FSOHIO replays some week old games that were on FSC. They do it every week. I don't remember hearing that his career was over, just that he may never be the same. The break was very bad and some doctors wondered if it would ever heal properly.
