My favorite part of the deal - it should mean a slight bump in coverage of Spurs here in the US.

Dempsey forced his way out of Fulham in a way that would make even Lebron James blush. What a prick.

I used to be kind of a Tottenham fan, at least when they played the likes of Arsenal, ManU, or Chelsea. But damn, what an unlikable player.

I have only heard Jols ever changing story. Have you heard something different?

He had a good season last year and wanted to parlay that into a move to a bigger club because he wants to play in Europe. It's not that complex of a situation, happens all the time. Jol probably backed off because he wasn't sure that Fulham were actually going to be able to sell him and having an ongoing feud with a player still on the payroll isn't a good idea.

Jol walked back that statement a week later.

We also don't know what promises the club made to him after not leaving in last summers transfer window.

Jol was still hoping to convince Dempsey to stay.

And why else would Dempsey not show up at training camp, especially in light of the fact that Jol has said he wanted Dempsey to stay? The team certainly didn't tell him not to show up. He was trying to force their hand. It worked.

Not sure how anything that happened could give you a different interpretation other than Dempsey pulled a Carmelo.

That may have been what happened. The point I am trying to make is we only have Jols version of the story.

I am not trying to make Dempsey out to be some blameless victom. I just think we have only heard a fraction of the story.

I'm extremely jealous of the Spurs signing Dempsey, and I also agree with you 100% that we've only heard one side of the story. Dempsey has made it clear for a long time that he wanted to go to a CL contending club...

Great double-save by Friedel to keep it scoreless at WHL against Norwich right before the half. Spurs STILL can't get a shot on goal to save their lives. Tim Howard had a wonderful one handed save of his own to keep it scoreless against West Brom as well.
