Only a matter of time until West Brom score against Spurs. Ever since they brought Lukaku on, they've been utterly dominant & if it wasn't for Friedel, they'd have already scored. Still scoreless in the 70th minute.

Told you so. 90+ 3rd minute, 1-1. James Morrison taps in after a scramble in front of goal. Spurs had already cleared two off the line, so it was inevitable they were going to concede.

Friedel was brilliant. Vertonghen was brilliant. Both he and Gallas were overmatched by Lukaku, but Vertonghen was able to make up for it with some cleverness. Gallas was shit all day with his clearances, and his last shit clearance cost them dearly.

Also, they really missed Sandro in the final twenty minutes. I don't know if it was down to fatigue/fitness or what, but I would have preferred that he finish the match, and did not want to see Jermaine F. Jenas brought on under any circumstances. It was untimely, with the way the substitutions and the goal worked out, and I understand what they were going for there, but I would have preferred to see Sigurdsson take the place of Defoe (playing off Adebayor) rather than taking the place of Sandro.

Defoe can get lost already. He's a dead end in possession. He also costs possession because he can't hold the ball and most times won't even try - instead opting to run head-on into three defenders or pinging in a weak long shot straight at the keeper.

Lukaku was a beast though - he changed that game completely from the moment he came on. He was unplayable against Liverpool too. West Brom are going to have a good season if they can get him on the field more. Looks like he's worth every pound Chelsea spent on him, and perhaps much more.

For Spurs, this is still an incomplete squad. Hopefully a couple players will be bought this week to round things out. If not, it's going to be a long season.

On paper, it should have been three points today. Credit to West Brom and Lukaku in particular though - they controlled the final half hour and deserved a point if not more.
