Demba Ba plots summer Newcastle exit - Goal.com

Looks like Ba could be the first of a few Magpies to leave this summer.

Yaya Toure wants a new challenge, says agent - Goal.com

Interesting. He looked quite happy on the field for City last season too.

Podoslki: I can be Arsenal's utility man - Goal.com

Never been impressed by him at the club level. International level is a completely different story.

Goal.com is one of the absolute worst sporting news sites out there...you can typically tell when they are making crap up when there are no quotes in the article...

...which makes the YaYa Toure article just that touch more interesting...

I just use it for the basic facts. Demba Ba plans on leaving, got it, didn't read much else. Yaya Toure is just looking for a pay raise if you ask me, why would he want to leave City ? He played virtually every game I watched.

Sounds like Spurs are close to signing Jan Vertonghen from Ajax. He was at WHL for the Fulham match to speak with executives as well as getting a tour around the facilities. The only thing standing in the way of the deal being completed is the asking price as Ajax are asking for a little more than Spurs are willing to pay but I see this deal as all but a done deal in the next few days.

That'd be a great pickup for them. Right in line with the style of football they've been playing this year.

I don't think Ajax is in a great negotiating position either. Vertonghen only has a year left on his contract, has said he wants to be at Spurs regardless of CL qualification (atta boy!) and if Ajax won't agree to a reasonable fee, he'll simply wait it out and leave on a free transfer.

Obviously though, I'd like to see Spurs do their business sooner rather than later, so new arrivals can get a full preseason in and before prices spike due to Euro performances.

If they can wrap up a Vertonghen deal, I'd like to see them go for one more CB. King (:() and Gallas should probably be done or on their way out. That just leaves Kaboul from the team that finished up the season. Dawson has been out with a serious injury - who knows when he'll be back? They'll get Caulker and Bassong back from loan. Caulker is promising and should be in the rotation next season, but Bassong is out of favor and seems likely to be sold this summer. A few months ago they brought in Bruno Uvini on loan, and it was my understanding that the move would be made permanent, but I haven't heard anything. Captain of Brazil's U20 team, he's promising, but still young and will probably need a couple years before he's in the CB rotation.

Kenny Dalglish out as Liverpool's manager. Poor play in the league ultimately cost him his job despite the Carling Cup triumph & FA Cup final appearance last season. It looks like Roberto Martinez is Liverpool's #1 target to take over next season.

Didier Drogba: I'm Leaving Chelsea - ESPN

Hopefully he doesn't spurn Europe for the $ in China. I think he still has some gas left in the tank & I would hate to see him waste it in a league of no relevance, but he has nothing else to prove in Europe at this point.

I don't think he will. Anelka might, but Drogba still has World Class potential. He's getting up there in age, but he's got 3 solid years left in him, IMO.

Looks like it's going to be Roberto Martinez or Andre Villas-Boas for next manager of Liverpool. Frank de Boer (Ajax), Juergen Klopp (Borussia Dortmund) & Brendan Rogers (Swansea City) have all turned down the opportunity to be considered despite interest from the club. Roberto Martinez is supposed to fly to Boston this week to discuss the job with Fenway Sports Group (FSG), who own Liverpool.
