Premier League (Official Thread)

ManU overpaying heavily for Marial and then happen to send in the paper work for De Gea a little late. Wenger still a cheap bastard. Man City bostered their dominence with De Bruyne.

I know it's a long season, but who is really going to overtake them? Swansea have looked impressive!

Spurs miss out on Berahino. I don't think that in and of itself is a bad thing. I think he was being overpriced and that even the amounts Spurs reportedly offered were too much. The biggest problem really is that they did not identify alternate targets to pursue at striker. I understand not wanting to settle for lesser players or ones that don't fit the manager's system, but surely there is more than one player somewhere on this planet besides Berahino who could've done a job for them as a second striker.

Spurs did have a good window. I like Alderweireld. I think Trippier at worst will push Kyle Walker to up his game in the same way Ben Davies pushed Danny Rose at the other fullback position. I really like the Son signing. I think Spurs' attacking midfielders have been mostly garbage so far this season, so hopefully he will give them a needed boost. The club did a good job of offloading deadwood, and while they took a loss on those players they still managed more favorable deals than most thought they could get. There are still a few more players to clear out (Adebayor, Fazio, possibly Lamela.) They got a Premier League loan for Yedlin at Sunderland. Hopefully he gets plenty of minutes playing on the wing. Spurs could use somebody with his pace in that sort of position. I think that's more his future than RB could be. I'm eager to see what some of the young guys can do - Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Tom Carroll, Alex Pritchard, Harry Winks, Josh Onomah. Spurs are gonna play in four competitions, the squad is not nearly as big as last season, so that should mean plenty of time on the pitch for those promising younger players.

I just wish they could've brought in an experienced central midfielder and a second striker. Spurs are young and lack depth in those positions, and I think it's going to catch up to them in the coming weeks and months.
