"Daddy, that's a big mess."

-Little Gretel AKAK.

That was kind of a fun one... Was at the wine shop most of the day, power was flickering on and off there... part of the duct work (or some such 4x6 piece of mtel) from one of the neighbor stores HVAC blew off the roof and crashed down in the parking lot, that was kind of a big crash.

Got home, dodging trees that were down in the streets in my neighborhood... and my neighbor was helping the neighbor 2 doors down pull a limb off their car...

In the quick recount of 4 houses that I could quickly see... the neighbor to the right of me had 3 large trees go down-- 4 in her yard-- the 4th was one of mine that snapped about 15 feet up from the ground flew over the fence, knocked one of the neighbors trees down which in turn knocked another of her trees down. None of these trees were less than 40 ft tall, but, the were kind of crappy old black locusts. (At least the fence didn't get flattened this time.)

The neighbor to my left, as far as I could see just lost one very large maple that took up most of his yard, so, if anything was under it you wouldn't know...

The next neighbor over from him... and here's the kicker, had a tree at least 3 feet in diameter go down on the power lines.. its still there as of this morning... I'm guessing that doesn't bode well for my service coming back soon... but, this is pretty normal for me, we have power lines on poles and (obviously) a lot of mature trees in my neigborhood... so... an ice storm will usually knock us out for a few days... at least its not winter... I figure they'll have us back up Wednesday or Thursday at the earliest.

If you need I can make you up a hurricane supply list. Hell just read my old posts, it will have you covered.

With the downed trees many lose not only power, but cable TV and internet. If you are on a municipal water system they may ask you to boil water and limit your toilet flushing. Intersections without traffic lights become danger zones.

Sounds like you will have plenty of wood for the winter. If you are using a chainsaw be safe.

... a patio table that's shattered into about 5 million pieces on my deck.
Are you sure that was a result of the weather? Rumor has it, Bucky Katt was seen in your neighborhood yesterday evening... and I heard from my brother's friend's cousin's UPS driver that your table was running around on him...
