I don't know all the behind the scene stuff that goes on in the catholic church,

but after attending mass the past couple weeks after a while, I really don't like the direction it's going and the new stuff or revised stuff they added to mass

The bishop touching you there wasnt actually part of the mass so no worries.

They probably arent crying over the loss .....:tongue2:
I think you are supposed to follow their church not the other way around. Isn't that how it usually works .

Cardinals from Canada, Nigeria and Ghana are among the leading candidates to succeed Benedict XVI as pope, according to bookmakers' odds. Nigeria's Francis Arinze, 80, is the 2-1 favorite at London-based William Hill Plc, meaning a 1-euro ($1.34) winning wager would return a 2-euro profit. Peter Turkson, 64, of Ghana is second favorite at 5-2. At Paddy Power Plc, Canadian Cardinal Marc Ouellet, 68, is the 5-2 frontrunner, while Turkson is 3-1 and Arinze is 7-2.
As if black comedians' routines weren't predictable enough...

I know. The laser light show, swapping out the crackers with Ecstasy and installing the stripper poles for the altar boys probably went a bit too far.

You mean just the few changes in wording? I understand the intent was to be more faithful to the original Latin to bring all the different-language Masses more in line with each other - it's not overturning Vatican II or anything.

yea, most of it was those types...

also my dad is pretty close with a priest in Ohio (known him since he was very young) and I guess my dad talked to him a week or 2 ago, and was telling him how he (the priest) wasn't liking how things were going down either, among other things (that either i don't remember, or didn't get details of)

The "fight" between conservatives and progressives has been going on for several decades now, with conservatives losing. The Church has been losing members for decades and has tried everything(remember the "Folk Mass"? making of more Saints?). They are desperate to show the world they are still relevant.

As usual, you couldn't be more wrong. Try looking at the world through a greater lens than White, European.

And guess what, where the growth is occurring the most (i.e. Africa, Latin America, and SE Asia), the more conservative camp is favored by Catholic congregants and the local leadership. The progressives are the ones fighting the losing battle as they try to retain their European hegemony on the Vatican.
