all right... in order to ensure that i knew what i was talking about, i did a little research... turns out i was correct, but i found an outstanding article that describes D-line technique and gap responsiblity at football outsiders.com that i highly recommend... i will refrain from pasting the article over here, unless someone wants me to, but i will provide the link.

S - O'neal (can't be as bad as Mitchell)

Mitchell, Russell, Coleman, or Patterson should be on the field at safety before JO, imo. He might have all the physical talent in the world, but that is it. He needs to spend a lot of time in the film room.

I'm going to differ with the consensus a bit:

Homan, Freeman, Grant

Homan and Grant will be there in a couple weeks and I think that they should get a good amount of the snaps, as the 3rd lb, but right now I like Kerr.

I know he struggled at times, but after rewatching the film he will be ok.

I think he is our best lb in terms of reading the play (run/pass) and getting to where he needs to be.

Freeman played good and JL played good tackle to tackle, but took some bad angles sideline to sideline. IMO some of that had to do with Safeties not forcing the play back inside and DE's letting the play get outside to quick.

I'm not sure why people are being so hard on Laurinaitis...I thought he played well and met his fits all day. When we are getting beat in C-Gap out...how can someone blame the Mike?

I totally agree. I thought Laurinaitis played a very solid game. I'd start him along with Homan and Freeman.

No crap, he was a BEAST last night... definitely the best LB play I've seen since... well, the Fiesta Bowl. He's my early favorite for the Butkis (if Posluszny's name isn't already engraved on it).
