Clemson LB Vincent arrested; expected to start bowl game

ATLANTA -- Clemson linebacker Cortney Vincent is expected to start in the Chick-fil-A Bowl even though he was arrested on a drunken driving charge last weekend.

The 22-year-old Vincent was pulled over early Sunday by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and booked at the Pickens County jail, officials said.
The junior was charged with first offense driving under the influence, detained for about eight hours and released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond, jail officials said.
"We'll let the legal process run and then make a decision accordingly," Bowden said

It's pretty clear where Tommy learned how to deal with these situations.

Papa Bowden would be proud.

Somewhere, Steve Bellisari is wondering what might have been if he'd stayed in Florida and played for the Seminoles.

Clemson hit with 3 players inelegible for bowl academically, fourth may fall dependent on outcome of Cortney Vincent's OMVI case.

Clemson linebackers Nick Watkins and Tramaine Billie won't play in the Chick-fil-A Bowl against Auburn because of poor academic performances.
Watkins and Billie were declared ineligible Tuesday, as was offensive tackle Christian Capote, the school announced. All three are fifth-year seniors.
...
There's also a chance Clemson could be without its third starting linebacker. A school spokesman said Bowden has yet to determine the status of linebacker Cortney Vincent, arrested earlier this month on drunken driving charges.
This should make it substantially easier for Auburn to run all over Clemson in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.

Although I relished this cheesy case since I could ham it up and pepper Gatorubet with in-salts, they haven't mustard enough evidence to ketchup to the perpetrators to fine them some bread.

3 North Carolina players allegedly were tied up, robbed, and 2 of them sexually assaulted. Sounds like a bar pick-up gone bad.

Police charge three with attack on North Carolina players

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Authorities have charged two women and a man with a weekend attack on three North Carolina players, which police said was motivated by robbery and included the sexual assault of at least two players.

Police said the players were attacked early Sunday at their off-campus apartment. All three were bound with tape, and one of those charged threatened the players with a knife. None of the players required medical attention, police said.

Authorities charged Monique Jenice Taylor, 28, Tnika Monta Washington, 29, and Michael Troy Lewis, 32, with three counts of kidnapping, three counts of conspiracy to commit a felony and one count of resisting arrest.

Taylor and Washington also are charged with one count of first-degree sexual offense. Lewis is also charged with robbery, possession of stolen goods and assault on government officials.

Prosecutors said the players and the accused went to the victims' apartment after meeting at a downtown bar.
