Pokes LB pleads guilty to sex offense

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma State linebacker Chris Collins has pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault in a Texas courtroom, leaving his sentencing fate in the hands of a jury.

Collins, a sophomore starter for the Cowboys, made the plea Tuesday in New Boston, Texas, Bowie County District Attorney Bobby Lockhart said in a statement Wednesday. Collins' trial was supposed to begin Wednesday.

Follow-Up on the Ok. State Cowboy LB. Now dismissed from the team.

Strathe (interim President) has some words about the departing player.

Coach Mike Gundy met with Collins to inform him of the dismissal, according to a statement released Monday evening by Marlene Strathe, the university's interim president.
"Chris has been a model student-athlete since he arrived at OSU last year and coach Gundy felt that he had earned the privilege of hearing the decision face-to-face from his head coach," Strathe said in the statement.
Model student-athlete - who pleads guilty to sexual assault, on a 12-year old? Boy, I hope she chooses her words with somewhat greater care in the future, otherwise, in the future, Ok. State may be playing host to the wrong kind of crowd.

Players conveyed their emotions on Collins' departure:

"It's a big loss for us. We need 44 the bulldog. We need him," receiver Tommy Devereaux said. "He brings a lot to the table, a lot of energy. Even though he's on defense, he gets our offense fired up."

Yep, that Collins, truly an offensive player.

State Penn is out of control, and Paterno just stands by and condones it.

Football players charged in HUB fight, won't travel to MSU

Penn State football players Christopher Baker and Navorro Bowman were arraigned this morning on matching charges of aggravated assault, harassment and stalking, simple assault and disorderly conduct in connection to an Oct. 7 fight at the HUB-Robeson Center.

Additionally, defensive back Knowledge Timmons was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and defiant trespass.

Both linebacker Bowman and defensive tackle Baker were released without bail.

According to the complaint, Baker said he saw football players Taylor, Abe Koroma, Thom McEowen, Chris Bell, Willie Harriott, Devon Fentress, Toriano Moody and Johnnie Troutman kicking Capehart while he was on the floor.

Apparently up to 18 PSU football players were identified as being present. They all rat each other out in their interviews.

Mind you, this occurred over a month ago, and combined with the home invasion of last spring, it looks like PSU is breeding a bunch of thugs.

The really sad thing about all this is that Penn State was, at one time, the epitome of all that is good about college athletics - "The Great Experiment" Paterno termed it.

They reached their zenith when they took down the thug Canes in the Fiesta Bowl. Now, they are slumming, exploring the full depths of the gutter that they used to look down upon.

I still remember the email from a dipshit State Penn fan I got preseason that read "What is Ohio State thinking?" and a link to the "fact" that we were still recruiting Pat Lazear (even though we weren't).

Fuck you State Penn.

Twenty Ole Miss players get probation for stealing

JACKSON, Miss. -- Mississippi put 20 players on probation Sunday after they twice stole items from hotels.
A news release said the players have paid for the items, which included radios and pillows. Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron said in the release that the players will be on probation indefinitely.
Officials said the items stolen cost between $15 and $40.
"Any actions similar to this will result in more severe penalties which may include dismissal from the team," Orgeron said in the release.
The action comes a day after the Rebels lost 41-24 to No. 1 LSU in Oxford. It appears the players will be allowed to play Friday at Mississippi State in the final game of the season.
A spokesman said a list of disciplined players was not available. Neither Orgeron nor athletic director Pete Boone immediately returned messages Sunday. Boone is scheduled to attend Orgeron's weekly news conference Monday to answer questions about the disciplinary action.
It was not clear from the release when or where the items were stolen. Ole Miss stays in hotels for home and away games. When they play in Oxford, they stay at a hotel in nearby Tupelo on Friday nights to get away from distractions.
This is at least the fourth disciplinary action Orgeron has taken this season. He reinstated Greg Hardy last week after suspending the defensive end for two games. Offensive linemen Corey Actis and John Jerry were docked starts. Orgeron has said in those cases team rules were broken, not the law.

Orgeron also suspended four players and dismissed another last season after police caught them smoking marijuana. Only one of the four suspended returned to the team this season.
Ole Miss' NCAA compliance officer said in the statement that the players disciplined Sunday do not face sanctions.
"Since the student-athletes have made restitution, there are no NCAA rules violations," said David Wells, senior associate athletics director for compliance.

Were these kids Miami rejects?

Absolutely. These kids stole some pillows, the occasional alarm clock, small toiletry items, a bottled water out of the minibar, maybe even a couple towels. The Miami kids would have taken the mattress and television and shot the hotel clerk on the way out. The Ole Miss kids clearly don't have what it takes to play for the U.
