Three Minnesota football players released from custody

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ? Three University of Minnesota football players, including two from Ohio, were released from police custody on Monday, but investigators said they would continue probing the reported rape of an 18-year-old woman last week.

The players were arrested on Friday and questioned about the attack. By law, Hennepin County prosecutors had a deadline of noon Monday to decide whether to file formal charges against the players or release them.

"We have concluded that additional investigation is necessary to decide whether or not charges should be brought," said Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman at a news conference.

Talk About Some Tough Justice - Former Navy QB

Former Navy QB hit with $90K+ bill by Naval Academy following dismissal, which follows on the heels of being found not guilty in the case of alleged rape.

Former star quarterback expelled from Naval Academy after sex-related convictions
By BRIAN WITTE, Associated Press Writer
April 13, 2007
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The Navy expelled the former quarterback at the U.S. Naval Academy who was cleared of rape last summer but found guilty of lesser offenses, a move his attorney called "profoundly unfair" on Friday.
Navy Secretary Donald C. Winter called Lamar Owens Jr.'s conduct "unsatisfactory" and ordered the 23-year-old to reimburse the school $90,797.75.

A military jury acquitted Owens in July of raping a female midshipman in her room at the academy in early 2006. But the jury of five Naval officers convicted him on charges of conduct unbecoming an officer and disobeying a lawful order. Jurors had recommended no punishment.
Owens told a military jury during his court martial that the sex was consensual. His defense team attacked the woman's account of the incident, saying she was drunk and her memory of the incident was fuzzy.

Idaho tackle Marvin Jones arrested for alleged cocaine sales
April 27, 2007
MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) -- Idaho sophomore defensive tackle Marvin C. Jones Jr. was arrested after he allegedly sold cocaine to undercover police officers, Moscow Police Assistant Chief David Duke said Friday.
The 20-year-old Jones was arrested Thursday and booked into the Latah County Jail for investigation of three counts of delivery of a controlled substance.

The arrest came after a two-week investigation in which Jones allegedly sold cocaine to undercover officers on three occasions, Duke said. A search of Jones' apartment netted more than $1,600 in cash, including marked money that officers used in the undercover buys, Duke said.
Idaho athletic officials had no immediate comment Friday.
Duke said the investigation was continuing and more arrests could follow.

The Fulmer Cup count might be 3 counts of Grand Larceny (where they stick selling of drugs) and 3 counts of Drug Possession of the Tyrone Biggums variety. 4 points per count for the first, 3 points per count for the second.

Idaho nets a potential 21 points in one story! That would bump them into 2nd place. Penn State right now in 1st with 43 potential points.

It was Hebron's second arrest on the same charge in two months. He was suspended for two games after a Feb. 25 arrest.
