Georgia suspends 3 running backs
By Radi Nabulsi

Georgia running backs Isaiah Crowell, Carlton Thomas and Ken Malcome are suspended for the Bulldogs' game against New Mexico State on Saturday, coach Mark Richt confirmed.

Richt would not discuss the reason behind the suspensions, only that a violation of team rules occurred. "They didn't do things the Georgia way," he said.

But a source told DawgNation that the three players were disciplined for failing a drug test that was administered last week before Georgia's 24-20 victory over Southeastern Conference archrival Florida in Jacksonville.
But it's good to see the RB corps [strike]is a close group[/strike] are close buds.:wink2:

I'd be curious to know when the results were of the test were back.

Before the Florida game???? It's easy to suspend them for the NM State game.

It's my understanding that the athletic department treats this just like your employer would.
In this instance - you take a drug test and the first thing that pops up is a positive result.

We don't know what the drug is or in what amount - but it yields a positive result.

So they return to you and ask you to declare any prescreptions/medical reasoning why this would turn up positive. Then its sent to a lab to determine what exactly triggered the positive result.

Same thing happened for the RB's - it was sent to a lab for the results last week and they got the results on Tuesday? Were we supposed to sit them before we knew it was a banned substance?

Maybe Georgia found out that the players sold the positive results for free tattoos?

It should be noted that all of these individuals are acting like tremendous fuck-ups and deserve 100 lashes from Herschel, Garrison, Thomas, and Knowshon for their ridiculous fuck-tardery.

Nebraska Volleyball star (and coach's daughter) arrested for hit-skip. With "you'd hit it" mug shot.

http://www.omaha.com/article/20111031/NEWS97/111039967

LINCOLN -- Husker volleyball star setter Lauren Cook faces a possible felony charge after calling Lincoln police on Sunday to report that she hit two motorcyclists on the side of the road and, in a “panic,” fled from the scene.

John Cook, her father and head coach of the top-ranked volleyball team, said Monday that his daughter remains on the team, but he would not address her status for this weekend's matches against Michigan and Michigan State. He said he had been in contact with Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne about athletic department procedures on dealing with arrests.

Some of the comments are golden.

I find it offensive that the motorcyclists were even there in the first place. If you ask me, they should be charged with a crime. I find it shameful that people are making this poor girl out to be a criminal.

What else do you expect from a Lincoln Pius grad?

I think this is how Lawrence Phillips got his start.

John above: You are so right - CHEAP JOURNALISM!

Our news media - including local - has gone totally dumbed-down. This country lives on journalistic sensationalism. Out law enforcement is over-paid and worthless.

Lauren Cook should never have been arrested.

Why would people be out on Motorcycles on a Sunday morning and the wind is blowing 20-30 miles an hour? Something is not right and all this could have been avoided if they were all attending Church services - period.

Oklahoma's Stephen Good arrested

Oklahoma left guard Stephen Good probably should have stayed home on Saturday night following Oklahoma's win over Texas A&M on Saturday. Six hours after the game had ended, Good was arrested in Norman following an altercation at a restaurant.

According to a report in the Tulsa World, Good got into a fight at Seven47, a restaurant and night club, around 1am on Sunday morning, in which Good shoved his victim's head against a wall. Good was arrested on a misdemeanor assault and battery charge, but was allowed to leave the premises after signing the municipal complaint.

Good has only started 11 games at Oklahoma in his four years, including two starts this season against Ball State and Texas, but he's been a regular part of the rotation at left guard. He saw some time there against Texas A&M on Saturday.

Two Oklahoma State players charges with having drug paraphernalia.

And their names are Rush and Littlehead.

CBS

Oklahoma State doesn't play again until January 2nd when it will face Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl. Which means that Oklahoma State players have a lot of free time on their hands, and we all know what happens when college kids have a bunch of extra time on their hands. So it's not surprising to find out that Oklahoma State's Christian Littlehead and Jonathan Rush find themselves in a bit of trouble with the law.
Oklahoma State defensive lineman Christian Littlehead and offensive linemen Jonathan Rush were each charged Monday with one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charges, both misdemeanors, stem from an incident last Thursday, when OSU police found two homemade smoking devices containing burnt residue in Rush's and Littlehead's residence at Sitlington Hall, according to the initial filing at the Payne County Courthouse.
Both players could face a year in jail or $1,000 fine, possibly both, but probably neither.

As for how this will affect each player's status for the Fiesta Bowl, the school is aware of the incident and is handling its own internal investigation. When it comes to Rush, whether suspended or not, he won't be playing in the Fiesta Bowl as he suffered a knee injury against Texas A&M in September that ended his season.

As for Littlehead, that's where things get a bit interesting. Littlehead has started a couple of games this season, but has played on the defensive line in all 12 games for Oklahoma State, with 16 tackles and a sack. His current court date is set for December 29th, which poses a problem for him seeing as how Oklahoma State is scheduled to fly to Arizona on December 27th. Which means that if he's not suspended for the game and wants to make the trip, he's going to have to get his court date changed as well.

Or just drive to the game himself (which is fairly common) after the court date.

Sam Hurd arrested on federal drug charges
Chicago Bears receiver Sam Hurd was arrested in Chicago on federal drug charges Wednesday night, and the criminal complaint against him describes Hurd as regularly dealing large amounts of drugs in Chicago.

Hurd allegedly attempted to purchase cocaine and marijuana from a supplier in North Texas, where the case will be adjudicated.

He was arrested by undercover agents at a Chicago steakhouse Wednesday night and was due to appear Thursday in federal court to face a charge that he did "possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more" of cocaine.
...
The investigation into Hurd's attempt to buy large amounts of cocaine and marijuana began in July 2011, when he was still a member of the Dallas Cowboys, and concluded when he personally met with an undercover agent Wednesday at a restaurant on West Bryn Mawr Avenue in Chicago.

At that meeting, Hurd told the informant that he wanted to buy "five to 10 kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana per week for distribution in the Chicago area," according to the complaint.

Hurd allegedly negotiated to pay $25,000 per kilogram for the cocaine and $450 per pound for the marijuana. The complaint says that Hurd "further stated that he and another co-conspirator currently distribute four kilograms of cocaine per week in the Chicago area, but that the supplier could not supply him with enough quantity."

After they agreed on a price, the undercover agent gave Hurd a kilogram of cocaine, according to the complaint. Hurd told the agent that he plays for the Bears and would get out of practice at 5:30 p.m., at which time he would make arrangements to pay for the drugs. According to the complaint, Hurd then took the drugs and got in his car. He was promptly arrested.

Hurd hit authorities' radar in July, when a confidential informant told police that a man was attempting to obtain four kilograms of cocaine for an unknown buyer in the Dallas area. That man was later stopped by police with $88,000 in a canvas bag. He said that the car and the money belonged to Hurd. Police confiscated the money, and Hurd later contacted authorities trying to get the money back.

Hurd was interviewed by police and admitted that he owned the car and had taken the money out of the bank, but authorities found that bank records did not match the amount.

Then in August, text messages and cellular phone records from a number used by Hurd showed up in relation to four individuals who were detained in California with currency, narcotics and weapons. The complaint states that the text message content "appeared to be consistent with narcotics trafficking and possible money laundering."

In December, the confidential informant told the co-conspirator that he would have to meet Hurd to "discuss future business." That led to the meeting and arrest in Chicago Wednesday.

Two 'Noles were arrested for over the weekend in separate incidents. One for stealing a laptop, and the other for grand theft of a vehicle.

I'm sure some other guys that were about to graduate yesterday were involved with Grand Theft Auto shortly before the ceremony, but almost all of them were playing a video game.

Compare the media coverage this will get during the bowl season to the coverage of a few guys trading stuff for tattoos last December. (I'm just talking about what was known before the Sugar Bowl).

Two FSU Players Arrested Over The Weekend

Two Florida State University football players were arrested over the weekend in separate incidents, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

The Leon County Sheriff's Office confirmed that true freshman linebacker Arrington Jenkins was arrested on Sunday and charged with vehicle grand theft. He was released after posting $5,000 bond.

Junior cornerback Avis Commack was arrested on Friday morning after turning himself in for a felony grand theft charge. Commack reportedly stole an iPad from a campus computer lab. The iPad was found with Commack's university ID login used to access the FSU wireless network.

Commack was released under pre-trial conditions and reportedly participated in the fall semester graduation later that evening.
