Police/Legal Blotter (stop breaking the law, asshole!)

Last Friday a 'Cuse player was stabbed in a 'campus brawl', and now this.

CBS

Syracuse WR charged with drug-related felonies

According to police reports, Sales was driving a vehicle officers saw pass through a red light without stopping at Midland and Ballantyne avenues.

There was an odor of marijuana in the car and Sales did not have a driver?s license with him but showed police an SU identification card. Police found three knotted pieces of plastic containing a green plant-like substance that tested positive for marijuana, a plastic baggie containing 180 Lortab (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) tablets, three digital scales, a plastic cup with gin and other baggies with devil, superman and pit bull insignias on them.

Police said Sales admitted he had been drinking the alcohol. Marcus Sales had $250 in cash in his possession and Michael Sales Jr. had $747 in cash, police reported.

Both were charged with fifth- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana. The fifth-degree possession charge accuses them of possessing the pills with intent to sell them based on the number of pills and packaging material found, police reported.

Syracuse players can't get in enough trouble in NY state, so they spread their charm in Colorado.

Givens was previously suspended for a vandalism arrest, so CU Coach Embree has permanently dismissed him.

CU Buffs' Bryce Givens, Syracuse QB Jonny Miller arrested in Boulder robbery

Bryce Givens, 22, a former tackle for the University of Colorado football team who was suspended in January for vandalism, was arrested in a Boulder robbery case this week and won't be returning to the team.

Boulder police arrested Givens and Jonathan Miller, 20, who plays football for Syracuse University and was Givens' teammate at Mullen High School in Denver, on suspicion of punching and robbing a man early Wednesday morning.

The 21-year-old victim said he was walking home from downtown Boulder at around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday when he was approached by two men near 13th Street and College Avenue. One of the men punched him in the face, he said. The victim told police the two men then took his cash and cell phone before running into a residence in the 900 block of College Avenue. He then called police from a nearby friend's house.

Police suspect that Miller was the one who threw the punch. He was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault, robbery and possession of a fake ID, while Givens was arrested on suspicion of robbery. Both are free on bond.

If you thought it was an easy bet on which SEC West QB would be arrested and suspended today for having had a fight at a local bar, you would have been wrong.

CBS

Ole Miss QB Randall Mackey arrested, suspended

If you're locked in a down-to-the-wire battle for a starting quarterback job in the SEC, the last thing you'll want to do is get in some kind of off-field hot water that gives your coaches an excuse to look elsewhere. The last thing. Right?

Apparently Ole Miss's Randall Mackey didn't get the memo. The Clarion-Ledger is reporting that Mackey was involved in a fight at a local bar/music venue and arrested by Oxford police. He was charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, and released.

Houston Nutt then announced today that Mackey would "likely" be suspended for the Rebels' season opener against BYU.

Mack Brown gives safety Scott a 3-game suspension after he pleaded no contest to an assault charge against a woman that was repossessing his car.

Texas.Statesman

Scott reinstated after pleading no contest

Brown, who suspended Scott on Aug. 8 indefinitely until the senior?s legal situation had been resolved, said Scott will have to sit out Texas? first three games against Rice, BYU and UCLA, but that he would be allowed to practice with the Longhorns? scout team during that period.

"We're disappointed any time once of our players makes a poor decision, and Christian understands he made a mistake," Brown said in a statement. "He has taken responsibility, is accepting the consequences of his actions and has returned to the team. He will be working with the scout team until he is eligible to play."

Scott was arrested Aug. 8 after an altercation involving a woman who was trying to repossess his car.

In addition to the three-game suspension, Scott's no-contest plea also will include two years "deferred adjudication" - meaning there will be consequences should there be any additional arrests during that time - and 40 hours of community service. Scott also will have to attend a stress management course as well as pay restitution to the victim and to cover court costs.

Tulsa's star return man will miss the Oklahoma game, and perhaps much more.

Looks like his girlfriend gave him a deal better than the employee discount.

Over $2,700 worth of stuff for less than $14. That works out to about 50 cents for each $100.

Theft allegations move Tulsa to suspend Johnson

TULSA, Okla. -- NCAA all-purpose yardage record-holder Damaris Johnson was suspended indefinitely by Tulsa on Friday after he was questioned by police following his girlfriend's arrest on an embezzlement complaint.

The loss of Johnson, a second-team All-America last season, deals the Golden Hurricane a tough blow leading up to their season opener next week at top-ranked Oklahoma. Johnson had 208 all-purpose yards, caught a touchdown pass and returned a punt for a score in a victory at Notre Dame last season during a seven-game winning streak.

He has led the nation in all-purpose yards each of the last two seasons. Tulsa finished last season ranked No. 24.

"We've taken a stance on the information that we have, but I'm not naive," Tulsa coach Bill Blankenship said. "I think there's always more information, so we're going to let this thing play out."

Blankenship suspended the senior receiver from all team activities pending a university review.

Tulsa police spokesman Leland Ashley said Johnson was questioned Thursday after Chamon Jones was taken into custody.

Ashley said Jones, who works at a local Macy's, is accused of selling more than $1,500 worth of merchandise to Johnson for just under $13 on one occasion. She also is accused of only charging him 34 cents for merchandise totaling $1,283.

Marshall's Evans charged in series of armed robberies

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Marshall wide receiver Troy Evans has been charged with four armed robberies near the Huntington, W.Va., campus.

Huntington police Lt. J. Williams says in a news release that the 21-year-old was arrested Tuesday on the campus without incident. Evans also faces a wanton endangerment charge.

Media outlets report Evans was arrested just after football practice.

Evans was being held Wednesday morning at the Western Regional Jail on $250,000 bond. Jail records didn't show whether he has an attorney.

All four robberies occurred early Sunday morning.

Marshall announced Tuesday night that Evans had been suspended indefinitely from the team for an undisclosed violation of team rules.
