Full speed ahead.
Hardware has been ordered, some of it has already arrived in California. I expect the machines will be built and may be online as early as Mon-Tues next week. As far as the site migrating over, that's going to be a slightly slower process. We're going to do as clean an install as possible, including going through and manually stripping away parts of the database that are no longer relevant. At the same time, we're going to be taking BP to vBulletin 4.1.2 (or 4.1.3 if it's available in time), which is quite a leap and will require no small amount of tweaking after the fact because of changes to the software.
At the end of all of it, I expect:
- a blindingly fast site, even on game days and NLOID.
- more security and stability
- better options (options at all) if and when there are problems with the hardware.
- monthly savings in the form of reduced colocation fees.
We've already given Puregig/Highwinds notice that we're leaving, barring serious problems we *will* be on the new machines and connection before the end of this month.
I'll post the full/final specs of each box later.
