BB has a deal this week (not sure how long it's been around) where you get $500 off if you get a panasonic plasma plus a panasonic blu-ray player. You have a choice of the plasma - only 1 DVD player is available. The blu-ray player is 500 bucks, so basically you get it for free. I ended up getting the 58 inch 1080p (TH-58PZ700U)

The bluray deal comes and goes. Is it still active as of sunday? The weekly deals end on each saturday.

This can also be combined with the HD Advantage deal ($300 off DirecTV signup, $100 off for bluray purchase, $100 off for HomeTheater purchase, $100 off for installation).

There is a 100% (match your cost) installation rebate through panasonic, so sign up for a $150 installation from bestbuy, get your $100 off the TV, and then file for your $150 rebate.

You can learn more about this deal here.

Alright crunch time is here on the deal I've been eyeing. I decided the Kuro was too big a pill to swallow.

Panasonic 50" 720p 75u - $900 - retails 1500-1800, cheapest $1250 Frys

I can't do better than that, can I? 50" & 720p plasma with good quality are my requirements.

Saturday I finally quit waffling and got the Sharp Aqueous LCD because it was 1080 instead of 720 and had a 10:000 contrast ratio. F-it. It just looked good on the floor.

I'm disappointed in the sound tho, and need to get the Bose home theater system I was looking at asap.

Did not get a BluRay player, but I did get no interest or payments for 18 months:biggrin:....(so if it malfunctions I can take it back without ever having had to pay a dime for it. I hear the quality of even the best brands is spotty)

Does visualapex have a professional model of that that is cheaper?

Where from? Authorized dealer? Someone that will offer in-home repair service under warranty? If so it's a great deal.

Pulled the trigger, and quite pleased with the 50" Panasonic. Love the card slot gallery/slideshow, wonderful alternative to those dinky overpriced frames.

Watching low-def TV is pretty bearable. Highly recommended.

Go here: and search in this forum by title, for hdtv. Easily the best resource I've found for HDTV deals. The absurd deal I got above has passed, but in addition to listing every good deal in existence... you get scores of replies about how good the deal and product is. Benefiting from deal-hunting addicts is a good thing.

Any deals out there fellas? I have been looking at Sams and Amazon and it looks like I can get a new 50" Plasma by Panasonic for around $1150. Going to finally buy in about 3 weeks.

Get it. I have the same model JWins is describing...best purchase I never made.

:)

Of the affordable plasmas (as in not Pioneer Kuro's), Panasonic is the clearcut best model from all research I've done. Samsung is the only close second, but sufers from judder.

Not too much picture differences between the different panasonic's (just feature sets).

I love the 42" Olevia (sp) LCD that I recently bought from tigerdirect.com for $699. They had the same model at Microcenter for the same price shortly after I bought mine. IMO plasma has a slightly better picture, but the burn in scared me a little. Now if I can just get the cable fixed I'll be set. Really looking hard at DirecTV.
