Pittsburgh Steelers (official thread)

How do the Steeler fans on here feel about signing Clay from Wisconsin?

The Steelers do like having a big back on the roster but I suspect he'll have a hard time making the team. Mendenhall is entrenched as the starter. Tomlin likes Redman as his short yardage back. Mewelde Moore is a nice 3rd down back. The ability to play some fullback would help his cause but I'm not sure he's got the mentality. Definitely not a bad FA signing.

this.

Low risk high reward type of thing, maybe a replacement for Mendenhall after a couple of years on the practice squad? (the life of an NFL RB is a very short thing).

It's a good signing IF he can stay in shape. But considering he was always criticized at UW for being out of shape, I don't think there's a good chance of him being a solid contributor.

Saw somewhere this morning that he's down to 230. Who knows what the future may bring for his weight, but he certainly fits their profile.

Still can't believe DeCastro fell all the way to the Steeelers. Perfect person for them. Not sure why all the teams above Pittsburgh passed on him but I'll take it!
Me too. I am very happy with the way things turned out.

I would not mind picking up an OT for additional depth. Our line has had too many injuries the past 2 years.

I'd like this as well. We also need a NT and LB depth. Hopefully more top players fall into our laps
