Pittsburgh Penguins (Official Thread)

how about Sidney on that last goal...simply amazing. Oh and by the way he's also the Pens best goalie too.

Freakin Fleury can wake up anytime though. He can be brilliant and then give up a SOFT goal in the span of a minute.

The Pens put more hits on their opponent in game two than they did in any other game this season (52) and held the Sens to one goal. That's what they needed to do after their soft performance in game one.

They will need more of that type of play going forward if they hope to repeat.

I don't think the Senators were ready from such a physical response from the Penguins after the Leopold hit. The rest of this series is going to be extremely rough on the Senators, regardless of the outcome.

Philchenkov isn't causing Crosby as many problems as the media had anticipated. Evgeni Malkin wasn't a huge factor, but it wasn't as if he totally disappeared on Friday. Jordan Staal played a solid game. I expect Lines 2 and 3 to carry the load for the Penguins tonight.

As for the Sutton hit, the elbow was up. Video proves it. Sutton was aiming for the head. Video proves it. Leopold had his head down. Video proves it. Considering the fact that I strongly defend Matt Cooke's hit against Marc Savard, it would be folly of me to condemn Sutton for this hit.

...doesn't change the fact that someone needs to take a run at him in Game 3 though.

^

Big win for the Pens. Alfreddsson showed some real class tonight. :shake:

Malkin was the best player for the Pens tonight. Crosby wasn't as ridiculous as he has been, despite a pretty awesome goal. Bill Guerin created a chance and finished it. Not sure he's done that yet this year.

Staal just about made a pretty costly mistake.. instead of keeping it in the zone, he pushes it out toward center ice when one of the Sens was coming out of the penalty box. Two Sens were close to him, too. Almost led to a good scoring change for the Sens.

Penguins looking pretty strong so far.

Also, congrats to Jordan Staal for being a Selke finalist (along with Pavel Datsyuk and Buckeye Ryan Kesler).

Sidney Crosby is a fucking beast. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that he's the best player in the NHL.

Two goals and an assist tonight, with more than half a game left. Pascal Leclaire is out there now.

Looks like we have a shoot out on our hands...7 goals in the second period and there are still over 6 minutes left in it.

5-3 Pens
