whats the word on goligoski?

while im on it. are you guys expecting alex grant to be with the baby pens in swb next year?

Gogo had trouble with the B-Pens since he was last sent down, at least to some observers that saw him play.

Grant in S/WB next year would be nice.

Well I won't lie... This team is really starting to concern me HEAVILY. The obvious drop off from Sid/Malkin to everyone else is very alarming. The wingers are absolutely worthless on lines 1 and 2. Kunitz atleast will hit someone but what the pens are missing is that scoring depth. We essentially don't have anyone that can help Malkin and Crosby out. Which is were Hossa really did well last year. If Malkin or Crosby were rushing up ice teams had to play it more balanced with both Malone or Hossa rushing the net. This year we got Fedetenko and Billy Geurin.

I love the Pens and I'm going to cheer like hell we win NO DOUBT. However, for four games I've seen a team get constantly out worked and out played. I thought the Flyer's did a better job in game two although most will disagree with me there. After the first game I thought we had the more complete 4 lines, but after 6 games I'm not so sure. 4-6 25+ goal scorers is a lot to counter.

We won't be winning game 6 (baring more Fleury head standing), and game 7 is going to be a battle. Given the way the Flyer's have really started to tilt the ice in their favor I'm not so sure that having game 7 in Pittsburgh is really going to matter.

On a positive side though I did think Satan was one of the more visible players on the ice tonight. Now although I love Jordan's game and I'm glad we kept him around for the time being but I still think we're going to have to get rid of him if we want to be a true dangerous team. Talbot is more than capable of leading line 3, and we've got to get SOMEONE to take the pressure off of either Sid or Malkin.

To be even more extreme having two players making 8.5+ per year is also heavily handicapping the team from a quality depth standpoint. You have to keep Crosby/Malkin but man does it really make you reach on the surrounding talent.

Now you're starting to sound like the bandwagon jumping BuckeyeMike. Get on and stay on.

The thing with the Flyers is that, when they play disciplined, they are a great team. Since game one, they've played disciplined and have been the better team for most of the last 12 periods.

They, and their fans will be crazy for game 6 tomorrow and I fully expect some of their stupid play returns, giving the Pens a good chance for the win. Like you said, though, MAF will need to stand on his head.

Anyone else lose the feed last night in the second period? That really pissed me off.

You know that's what my other friend said to me after the game.... I told him look I don't like the way it's going and I'm not so sure we can close it out. He ended up spittin out that I needed to shut the [censored] up and support the team.

I AM supporting the team and always will, but i'm also not afraid to point out a problem when I see one. I'm just saying we haven't played good hockey since game 1. The flyer's after that game settled down and have really played nicely. We're up 3-2 in the series and one win sends us onto the next round! I know this and I will be paying close attention to my gamecast tomorrow (I'll be working, DAMMIT!) I also know when my favorite team is playing poorly and i'm not afraid to point that out. There's a difference between being a bandwaggon fan and just being a obvservant diehard fan. I'm seeing the Pens getting their butt's handed to them ever since game 2, and I'm concerned. I'm as diehard as they come and you know what I want this team to move on so badly that it does get me worked up when I see it starting to slip away. I actually did the same thing during the Michigan game on here as well and it was taken the wrong way as well. I just want this team to succeed that's.

Bottom line is I love the pens and always have since around 1997. I know I should be saying "don't worry boys we'll get them next time" but I don't think that way. I think of things like why aren't we generating any offense? Why is the defense breaking down? What can we do to fix it and turn it around.

It's not a slam on the pens...Far from it. I'm just saying I don't like how we're playing at all. It seems like we're a step slow and that we just aren't generating enough offense. We're both on the same page though as far as Fleury. NONE of this will matter if Fleury steals us game 6.

To be honest I think the Flyer's is going to be the toughest team for us to play if we're able to close this series out. I was never really impressed with Philly's team but this series I must say I'm impressed by the constant wave of scoring threats they can put out there. The Flyer's are just a PESKY team and if we're lucky enough to get past them I believe round 2 will be easier.

Serious question here... and don't take this the WRONG way. Because honestly, I'm starting to feel rather good about game 6.

The question is... This off-season do any of you feel Jagr would come back for one season? I hear it's been discussed and brought up from Mario to Jagr.

Honestly 2 months ago (well maybe more now, just before Therrien was fired), I would not have seen any way for the Penguins to hang with Philly.

But your new coach has brought the Pens together as a team again while Philly has found out that being consistent the entire year is very tough.

I think Pittsburgh wins the series tomorrow. And I can't wait to see the Pens vs. either the Caps, Devils or Carolina. Those will be a fun series. The only team though that I see beating Pittsburgh in that group is maybe New Jersey if Broduer gets and stays hot. Carolina likely doesn't score enough and Washington is showing us they are a one line team with only 1 good defender and a bunch of journeymen.

Of course, I'm just a band wagon so what could I possibly know about the NHL's other teams :slappy:

What a game for me to miss.... On gamecast I had my head in my hands when the score went 3-0, but wow how fast it turned. Great win, and a gutsy effort to get things turned around

After watching the replay's off of pittsburgh's sight... It look's like it really changed when Talbot fought, and then Malkin really went after someone after Fedetenko's goal. Philly is a pesky team and IMO are a much tougher match than NJ/Wash/or Carolina. I'm just glad to get that series outta the way. Way to go pens for really coming to play the last two periods because it wasn't looking good. The series in general was ugly, but you know what? We'll take it.

Great win, and GO PENS.
