A) The defense was just absolutely awful (save Scuderi/Eaton). Orpik was a non issue phyiscally which is unusual, but our best defenseman was one of our worst tonight. Gill, IMO, needs to get benched in favor for a more mobile Dman like Boucher. Not to mention Boucher add's things offensively.
B) Sykora, Honestly is the worst player on the team right now. I had to laugh at the miss of the breakaway pass, and also his open net that he totally clanked off the post. Seriously they put Dupuis up with Malkin/Crosby a few times so why not just take Sykora completely out for a game and see what happens? He add's NOTHING if he's not hot offensively.
I thought Kennedy, Cooke, and Staal had the best line of anyone tonight. IMO, too often Guerin Disappears and the same for Kunitz. I won't lie although we stole this one I believe we're going to need to make some pretty big changes if we're going to get very far this year.
I actually do feel we can beat anyone in the Eastern Conference. ANYONE, but we need players like SYKORA, Guerin, Kunitz, and Fedetenko to start chipping in a little more. Yeah I know Guerin scored 2 goals in game two but he's not creating enough offense on a consistent basis.
What can be said about Fleury that hasn't been said already? Save after save he made tonight, and the defense should be ashamed of their efforts. If they play good hockey it's probably only 32 total shots for the Flyer's instead of 45.
I mean really? 45 shots... Pathetic.
Even though this was a pretty messed up game we're still going home up 3-1 so I guess I'll take it. That type of effort in game 5 though will send this right back to Philly , and then back to Pittsburgh for game 7. Better shape up.
21+ mins, 56% from the dots. when he wants to be he can be big, physical and a load to deal with as a third line centreman...Agree 100% about everything. I think the Staal/Kennedy/Cooke line has been the best line, not just in this game, but all wins. They put consistent pressure on the Flyers' defensemen and seem to keep it in the zone for a long time. They might not show up on the score sheet like Malkin and Crosby (they are showing some), but they're doing a great job.

Now if we can just get Sykora either benched or motivated..
neither carter or richards are good from the dots. both are sub 50 type guys. and those numbers are inflated by good wing play...I'm not sure the defense is to blame for the 46 shots. The shots, at the time the Pens scored their second goal, were 18-16 in the Flyers favor. That's hardly the blowout that the final tally indicates.
I think that's the old adage about 2 goal leads are the worst kind. They figure they're on the road with a 2-0 lead in game 5 of the SC Playoffs, so , at that point, they're playing to protect the lead. After the second goal, the Pens only had 10 shots the rest of the way, 4 of which were on the PP or when they had the EN. The Flyers, after the 2nd Pens goal, had 28 shots the rest of the way. The Pens , for whatever reason, decided to play 'Prevent Defense' . When you play prevent, you're going to give up more shots.
I will give the Defense credit for only allowing 2 shots in the last 7 minutes of the game with the 1 goal lead. After the ENG by the Pens , Filly got 2 meaningless shots.
Another thing for all the dumbass Flyer fans that love to chant Crosby sucks; it must fire him up because while he's not known as a great face-off man, in Philly the last 2 games, he was 34/52 for 65%, including 27/41 for 66% against Carter and Richards. Nice job for a diving crybaby.
