James Conner, star Pitt RB, diagnosed with cancer

James Conner‘s 2015 season was lost to a serious knee injury. Now, for the star Pittsburgh running back to make it back to the playing field, he’ll have to navigate a much more dire hurdle.

Friday afternoon, Conner revealed that he has been diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin’s lymphoma in his neck and chest. Conner will begin treatment this coming Tuesday, a course that’s expected to take a period of six months.

Pitt RB James Conner tweets his ‘body is clean of cancer’

How bout some excellent news for a change?

Late Monday afternoon, Pittsburgh running back James Conner tweeted out the words he’s been waiting months to say: “Just got the call that my body is clean of cancer!!!” The news comes five months after Conner revealed that he had been diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin’s lymphoma in his neck and chest.

It also comes less than two weeks after the back completed his chemotherapy treatments.

God is AMAZING. Just got the call that my body is clean of cancer!!! Been a long road but God had my back. Thanks everyone who said prayers!

Pitt’s James Conner helping fight against cancer

Pittsburgh running back James Conner beat cancer, and he wants to help others follow his lead.

The Pittsburgh Tribune reports Conner helped raise $400,000 for cancer research through a dinner hosted by the man who helped save his life, oncologist Dr. Stanley Marks.

Marks is impressed with Conner’s efforts to rebuild his body after enduring chemotherapy to defeat Hodgkin lymphoma.

“He’s been working out like an animal,” Marks said, noting Conner also is watching his diet. “He hardly ate anything at the dinner. His arms are just enormous, rock solid. He has really put on so much muscle since he started working out (after being declared cancer-free last month).”
