Pitt 36, Ntre Ame 33 (Final, 4 OT)

4 OT possessions and ND gets 9 points. I thought Charlie was an offensive genius? Of course, he was going against a rugged Pitt defense that gave up 54 points to Rutgers last week. :slappy:

I think the Ntre Ame ffensive line was out of gas at the end of the game and I think the Pitt defense exposed their lack of endurance.
Na, normally I would look for a decent excuse why we would have gotten beat, but I don't see it :) I think we honestly were blocking poorly at the end, not by a lack of energy. The whole 3rd quarter was nothing by 3 and outs for the ND offense. I'm surprised the defense has as much in their tanks as they did in overtime, they were on the field a lot the 2nd half. The offense did come back to score on a long drive in the 4th, that could have winded them, but over the whole 2nd half they didn't have a lot of long drives.

I think part of it was the conservative play calling in overtime, we called up a lot of running plays that weren't going anywhere. I think we should have went for a few more short passes, which is what was the most effective today. The long passes weren't there often today, good coverage by Pitt, we were only open deep a few times.
