Pink Floyd 1988 @ Ohio Stadium - 28 May 1988

In 71 i purchased my 1st stereo/components system and the vinyl record that sold me on the system was "Pink Floyd" Dark side of the Moon. It was the 1st album i bought to play on my system.

The original quadraphonic master mix has been released as a bootleg DVD-A (bittorrent is your friend).

It's pretty awesome & I like it much better than the newer SACD multi-channel mix.

I was there. The day they opened up the ticket office at St. John to sell tickets to students, I showed up pretty early but there was already 100 people or so in line. By the time I had my tickets, the line wrapped around the arena. The show was worth it though.

Back then, the older generation didn't like rock and roll at all and many of them blamed it for many of society's ills. And those older generations were the ones who first took me to The 'Shoe. Now here I was, listening to music they hated in that same place they (and I) so venerated.

Now, I'm a member of the older generation, and the biggest culture shock of my life is that my generation likes some of the same music as the younger generations. Pink Floyd playing in The 'Shoe was scandalous to some people. Now, most people don't even remember how much friction there used to be between the generations about music.

I've always wondered why they don't have more concerts in The Shoe:

Saturday 19 July 2003 - Summer Sanitarium/Metallica, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Mudvayne, Deftones

Saturday 27 September 1997 - Bridges To Babylon tour/The Rolling Stones

Sunday 29 May 1994 - Pink Floyd

Friday 22 May 1992 - We Can't Dance Tour/Genesis

Missed them in 1988. Made up for it by going to the Division Bell show at the 'Shoe on 05/29/1994 though. :pimp:
I was fortunate that growing up in the 70's, I was able to see all the "Big Boys" of the day.......Zep, The Who, The Stones, and Floyd in 77 during the "Animals" tour. That 94 show in the Shoe was far and away the best concert I ever saw. Unbelievable show!!

please be a tour... please be a tour... please be a tour... please be a tour... please be a tour...
AS much as I would love to see that myself, I think it's highly unlikely that will happen. After the passing of Richard Wright, Gilmour and Mason have spoken of Pink Floyd in the past tense. Although they have all briefly appeared together for various charity shows, I think it would require Roger Waters coming back to the fold full time.
We can always hope though!!

Also the Billy Joel/Elton John "Face to Face" tour in 1994, and U2's "Popmart" in May 1997. I lived in Morrill Tower for the U2 show and pretty much our whole floor got free tickets and beer money for helping to set up chairs on the field.
