Pierce Brosnan Done! New Bond?

28 year-old O'Lachlan could be following in the footsteps of fellow countryman George Lazenby and become the second 007 from down under, but only if he beats off competitors Goran Visnjic, Henry Cavill and Ewan Stewart.
Ummm... not that there's anything wrong with that...

If that's where the franchise is headed, it's no wonder Brosnan's glad to be out!

Daniel Craig`s mother spilled the beans to local press ahead of announcement</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
A day ahead of the official announcement, Daniel Craig's mother could not contain her excitement that her son was the sixth James Bond 007 - so she leaked the news to her local newspaper.

Carol Craig told the Liverpool Daily Post that she was delighted with his appointment. "Obviously we are thrilled to bits", she said.

"It has come at a very good time in his career. He has worked extremely hard all his life and this would be his biggest populist role."

"I think he could bring something very interesting to the part. It will be life-changing."

Daniel Craig will be officially announced at noon on Friday 14th October 2005 in London.

I would love to see Clive Owen (he also plays Arturius in King Arthur) as Bond. Unique voice and can play the intelligent, upper crust type. Although he is filming 5 movies already right now according to IMDB...

Supposedly Clive Owen dropped from consideration due to contract demands (i .e. wanted a percentage of the profit).

007 producers lost Clive Owen over contract points</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
According to a report by entertainment trade Variety correspondent Michael Fleming, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson lost the chance to have Academy Award-nominated actor Clive Owen (41) assume the title role in the James Bond film empire when they refused to include gross profit points for the actor’s contract. Gross profit point sharing is a common consideration given to marquee actors - reports MoviesOnline.ca.

As a result of the snub, the producers not only find themselves without a leading man with production on the next James Bond film `Casino Royale` scheduled to begin in January, but their Bond heir-apparent Owen has added insult to injury by agreeing to parody the 007 James Bond character by playing a spoof version named 006 in the comedy remake `The Pink Panther` starring Steve Martin as bumbling Inspector Clouseau.

Director Martin Campbell and scribe Paul Haggis (rewriting a script by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade based on an Ian Fleming novel) have stated a desire to cast a younger actor in the 28-year old range as Bond and take the series back its roots.

Sam Worthington (29), Rikki Lee Travolta (30), and Henry Cavill (22) are the actors under consideration in the younger age range Campbell and Haggis state they desire.

Daniel Craig (37), Julian McMahon (37), and Goran Visnjic (33) are also under consideration, with Craig being the reported favorite of Broccoli but not finding favor with Wilson or Campbell.

Pierce Brosnan (52) who last appeared as James Bond in the video game `Everything or Nothing` in 2004 and on film in `Die Another Day` in 2002, has suggested the producers are using the casting stalemate as a publicity stunt to generate interest in the movie, but has simultaneously indicated he would now be willing to return to the franchise for another appearance.

I realize that there are a lot of ugly people in the UK, but come on. No villain is going to be intimidated by a James Bond who has no business sleeping with a girl on his staff like happens so many times. This is like one of those annoying nerds you have as a cousin who becomes even more obnoxious after they land a big computer job. seriously, that's what he reminds me of.

Nobody wants to see a love scene with this, especially the voluptuous vixen. He's a scrawny punk, not a james bond. I think Thump has a better shot (outside of the set) at sleeping with the next bond girl.
