Boy, I don't know how a recruit could sound more like Mike Conley than this kid. I'm not saying he's as good as Conley, just that there are a lot of similarities.
I just hope that he can play the 4 position next year:wink:

Still trying to figure out how Ohio State got him. I wonder if his father had any connections with a coach on the Ohio State staff. I know that we have a very good program but you usually don't pull a McDonald's All-American out of the state of Georgia to Ohio.

A few thoughts on Scott. As you recall LB, Ohio State got in with Scott early, likely aided by Carolina going a different direction at point guard. I remember alot of info about his parents taking him to a number of schools looking for the right fit. Lucky for Buckeye fans, Thad and OSU stood out. I know that's not new info to you LB. Nor is it new info that Scott has really blown up against all competition the last several months. Scott's ranking until recently has been suppressed by his role of being a playmaking point-gaurd, rather than a score first guy. Scott has shown that he can lead a team and have individual success against elite competition, thus his rising stock and AA status. After the fact, the Bucks are fortunate they sowed this one up early. I am just glad there is an early signing period in BBall.

The state semifinals and championship game that Scott played in with Milton are available to watch for free on demand online - better watch them now, as I don't know how long the website will keep them on:
Milton vs. Norcross

Milton vs. Tift

Scott looks great in the first half of the championship game vs. Norcross, and had an amazing reverse layup near the beginning of the second half.

Two point guards is never a bad thing, but it's always intriguing. Ohio State recruit Shannon Scott, the son of former North Carolina and NBA player Charlie Scott, was named Mr. Georgia Basketball on Friday. Scott is a 6-2 point guard and may be the most prepared of the five players in the Buckeyes' incoming class to contribute next season. Scott is the reason the Buckeyes didn't recruit Columbus Northland point guard Trey Burke, who was named Ohio's Mr. Basketball.

But, as you may have noticed this season, Aaron Craft is a pretty fair point guard himself. Remember when Mike Conley arrived at Ohio State, the Buckeyes played Conley and former point guard Jamar Butler on the floor together, with Butler sliding to the two guard. This time, it may be the younger player, Scott, who slides, but expect the Buckeyes to have plenty of ballhandlers on the floor next season.

Shannon Scott, PG (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton)
Ht.: 6-2 | Wt.: 170 | Rank: 29 | PG Rank: 6 | College: Ohio State
Stats: 13.0 ppg, 7.0 apg, 2.5 spg
Biancardi's breakdown: No senior has improved more than Scott. He is a true point guard who is a floor general with great instincts and prides himself on making his team win.
Telep's take: The pressure of being the son of the ACC's first-ever black player never outwardly affected him. He made the McDonald's game mainly on his inspired play as a senior. In two national TV games, Scott showed his toughness, and his nomination to this team is a vindication that the high school season still has meaning.

Matta plays the best 5 even if 2 of them are PG's. By next season Craft is going to be dangerous from behind the line so it won't matter.

Good point, Craft was adequate this year, with his work ethic and an off season to work on it, he'll be a weapon next year. Scott brings a bit of a differant element as well, it will be fun watching this young team develop, get them early, you might not be able to late.

Playing two PG's will also force other teams to play one or the other with a player that may not have the lateral quickness to keep up with them. It will give the Bucks more opportunities at the rim, especially Sully. If you watched Kentucky last year, Wall and Bledsoe got to the rim a ton and Cousins benefitted greatly...
