PG Shannon Scott (Long Island Nets - NBA G-League)

Not to get too far ahead of ourselves but I think Smith will be moved to the #2 guard next year... we shall see.
That is another great thing about the way Matta recruits, he always has so many versatile players. Craft is strong enough, and his shot is developing to the point where he can play some #2 if necessary and Smith with his length and strength can play the 1, 2 or 3. Add in Sibert with his length and quicks who can play a couple of spots, Thomas and Spoon whose strength let them play the 4 as well as the 3, and the new wings, Thompson and Ross whose length and quicks will allow them to play many postions as well.

With the possibility of an NBA lockout next summer, the chance of seeing Sully and Buford to go along with Ravenel, Williams and McDonald plus Scott and all the versatile wings make it difficult to not look ahead.

Great time to be a Buckeye fan :oh:

Norcross drops to 0-3 with the loss.

Milton point guard Shannon Scott (signed with Ohio State) scored 28 points in the win over Norcross. His teammate, swingman Evan Nolte — who is considered one of the nation’s top college basketball prospects as a junior, finished with 23 points. Milton is 3-0 on the season.

FORT MYERS, Fla. ? The State Farm City of Palms Classic was on the verge of becoming the Austin Rivers Classic at halftime of Tuesday's semifinal showdown between No. 22 Winter Park (Fla.) and No. 23 Milton (Ga.).

After a 42-point performance in the quarterfinals, the spectacular future Duke Blue Devil poured in 16 more in the first half against Milton, helping Winter Park build a 33-27 lead.

But as the third quarter began, it was Milton point guard Shannon Scott putting the cape on and carrying his team to Wednesday night's finals against St. Patrick (Elizabeth, N.J.) at Bishop Verot High School with a 63-62 win over heavy crowd favorite Winter Park.

Not a bad way to celebrate your 18th birthday.

"Shannon Scott played like an All-American," Milton head coach David Boyd said. "He's one the best players in the country. He's something, he really is."

Scott finished with 15 points, six rebounds and six assists while playing all 32 minutes. More importantly, he attacked and penetrated at will in the second half after the Eagles played tight and stagnated offensively in the first 16 minutes.

Free Rivals - City of Palms: Gilchrist's turn to shine

Shannon Scott and Julian Royal, however, came out of the looker room and continued their strong play, leading Milton on a 9-0 run to take the lead. Winter Park only scored six points in the third quarter and could never completely close the gap.

Pivotal to Milton's success was the defense of Dai-Jon Parker, who switched onto Rivers and held him in check the entire half. Rivers shot only 3-of-11 in the second half and was forced into difficult attempts down the stretch.

Offensively, Milton was led by the strong all-around play of Scott. Not only did Scott score 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting, he also dished out six assists to only one turnover. He also was Milton's second leading rebounder with six boards.

Lost on a 3 from a kid who had his first points of the game. Only bad thing abut the end was Scott didn't contest the shot. Got to love the way he played down the stretch though after missing his first 6 FT's.

Milton (Ga.) vs. Oak Hill (Va.)
Saturday on ESPNU at 8 p.m. ET

This matchup is a battle of two point guards -- Ohio State signee Shannon Scott for Milton and Duke signee Quinn Cook for Oak Hill. The future Buckeye is more of a pass-first lead guard, but as of late he's looking to score more by driving to the hoop, while Cook can score easily and always looks to find his teammates.

While the two point guards are the keys to the game, they are from the only stars in this game. Milton has five starters with Division I ability -- Scott, Jordan Lloyd, Evan Nolte, Dai-Jon Parker and Julian Royal. Lloyd is a typical glue guy, Nolte is down to Georgia, Virginia, Florida, Stanford and Clemson, Parker is headed to Vanderbilt and Royal, a Georgia Tech signee, is extremely versatile and takes bigs away from the rim.

Oak Hill has been phenomenal all year, and that's without Arizona signee Sidiki Johnson, who's been out with a broken foot. There is a possibility he will play in this game, but even if he does it remainst to be seen how effective he will be after being out for an extended period of time. With Johnson out, Ben McLemore, who is one of the best unsigned players in the country, has been shouldering the load with Cook. McLemore, who is down to Kansas and Missouri, is a terrific finisher with a solid jumper to go with it. Junior Damien Wilson also scores well in the open floor and is a solid rebounder.

On the inside, Oak Hill has a legitimate scoring threat inside with 6-11 A.J. Hammons, who has a good jump hook, and a defensive presence in 6-9 Daniel Gomis.

The wild card in this game is McLemore because you never know when he's going to go off, but Oak Hill will have its hands full because any one of Milton's starting five could carry his team to victory.

I watched Scott in the game against Oak Hill. He looks like an excellent prospect. He handles the ball very well, seems to always be in control, and seems to be able to penetrate any time he wants. Milford beat #1 Oak Hill, and Scott was very impressive.

I think he is either not a very good outside shooter, or not too confident in his shot, because in the two games I've seen him play, I've not seen him shoot anything over 15'. He runs the point very well though, always has his head up looking for teammates and if someone doesn't stop him, he gets to the rim, and finishes pretty well. He also shot free throws much better this game than the first game I saw, though down the stretch he was money in both. He also is a good defender and gets in the passing lanes. Kid seems to have a high basketball IQ, not suprising with his dad being a former NBA player.

This kid is going to be a good one for the Buckeyes.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ? Shannon Scott was booed by a pack of fans early in the first quarter Saturday when he made a fundamental layup instead of going for the highlight reel slam dunk against top-ranked Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.).

Those boos quickly transformed into cheers as Scott, a 6-foot-2 guard who has signed to Ohio State, put on a dominating performance, scoring 12 of his 22 points in the first quarter, propelling Milton (Ga.) to a 75-69 upset victory in the premier game of the 10th annual Spalding Hoophall Classic at Springfield College.

"Our game plan was to jump on them real fast and get them off their momentum early," Scott said. "We got on them early so they had to come back the whole game."

Milton (Ga.) 75, Oak Hill Academy (Va.) 69

There was enough talent to fill out a Division I roster on the floor between opponents Oak Hill Academy (Va.) and Milton (Ga.) in the biggest match at the Hoophall Classic on Saturday. But Ohio State-bound Shannon Scott stood above them all with a 22 points, three assist effort in leading Milton to a 75-69 win.

Scott didn't dominate the ball in the same fashion as the point opposite him -- Duke commit Quinn Cook -- but he orchestrated the offense, scored efficiently (7 for 11 from the field, 8 for 9 from the line) got the Eagles key buckets when they needed them. With Oak Hill surging in the third quarter, Scott ended the quarter with a run out layup on a fast break, and a trip to the line on the ensuing possession to push the lead back up 56-51.

Watched the game last night and Scott out played Quinn Cook. Scott has really taken his game to a new level. When he is agressive there are not many better then him at the PG. Once he puts on some weight he will be able to finish some of his tougher drives. All I know is he is very underrated, and has a great first step.

Free Rivals - Eye-catchers: Hoophall Classic

Shannon Scott, PG, Milton
Meyer's take: Ohio State is picking up a quality point guard in Scott. The maturity of his game and his physical strength will enable him to make an impact right from the beginning. Playing with a high-level blend of explosiveness and efficiency, Scott got to the rim with regularity and knocked down 7-of-11 shots from the field and made 8-of-9 free throws, leading Milton to a win over Oak Hill Academy.
