PG P.J. Hill (BK JEKABPILS- Latvia)

Question for some of the hard-core recruiting folks...has this kid been on anybody's radar? I'd never heard of him until an hour ago. If Thad locked him up, there's obviously something there.

I have never heard his name.......they needed another PG for next year.......with him on board expect Matta not to go after another PF in the 2008 class......it looks like they will concentrate on 09-10....

Well, he didn't have flashy numbers and doesn't have great measurables but my curiosity is piqued. If Coach Matta and the staff are willing to give him a scholie, there's something there that has flown way under the radar.

Hill earns mention with 10 points, 5 boards in their NJCAA opening game and for helping limit a bigtime scorer to 10 points in the quarterfinals. Looks like his season stats were limited by playing behind guards like Mels, Brooks and Appleton, but he was a regular contributor on a talented JuCo team.

Sounds like a defensive specialist. Always an asset.

PG was such a gaping whole on the roster, behind butler, maybe they just needed to get a body in there that can handle the rock off the bench.

He may not be this prized recruit that flew under the radar, but rather the best option this late.

I hope i'm wrong and he contributes to the extent that Je'kel did. Or for that matter, I hope he exceeds expectations to the extent that Conley did.

In any event, Guard depth was a huge concern, and this signing fills a big need, and takes some of the pressure off of Lighty to play the point in a pinch.
