PG Duane Washington Jr. (3rd Team All-B1G, 1st Team All-B1G Tourney, Partizan)

we're all looking forward to your "keeping it real" posts throughout washington's senior season.

Was it a scrimmage or not? Was that pointed out in the original post?

scrimmage or not, Washington can shoot and thats a valuable skill. still haven't seen much in the way of answering whether he can play the point. I hope he develops that part of his game, but I assume since the staff has continued to pursue pgs that they feel we still need one.

If I were you, thankfully I am not, I might try reading an article before posting about something.
The Michigan native transferred to Sierra Canyon. He has already committed to Ohio State, and what he showed off on Saturday in the Rolling Hills Prep tournament was a tremendous shooting ability.

My son played in the "super bowl" this past weekend. No, it wasn't the actual super bowl, but the sponsor of the event called it as such, so by your logic it must have really been the super bowl.

you really think two of the top 20 teams in the country are going to play and only 100 people are going to show up to watch? again, hs basketball in the state of california doesn't begin for another month. the event isn't even listed on the athletic/basketball site for either Mater dei or sierra canyon. Both teams records are, you guessed it, 0-0 at the moment.

again, scrimmage or not, washington can shoot.

I will actually agree that video looked like an more of an open gym type environment and the score seems to indicate that as well. However, looking in a vacuum at the skill set and shooting form, I feel very fine evaluating Duane's immense talent. Again, check out the plays I called out at 1:05 and I think 2:50.

Also, going back in this thread I realize I have complimented him on both his ability to get to the rim/finish in contact and now his insane shooting. That's...good.

The ball handling out top where the defender got into him and he dribbled it oob, was not so good, but there is a lot to work with here. He'll be a scoring star.

Oh, yeah, I agree and wasn't suggesting looking at this video had no value. But coaches are going to coach a real game different than a scrimmage, trying different lineups, different defenses, etc and thats why its relevant to point it out. as has been said, he's a really good shooter. Not sure I've seen anything that shows he's going to be able to play pg at this level and we really need someone that can.

He showed plenty enough handles to run the point. He doesn't have to be a starter right off, just get the offense going. Don't know what he did in that clip that looks weak? You saw nothing in PG skills? The single play alone where he drives with his left hand and dishes it out to the wing for a three is enough to show you where he's at. But, you probably thought Mike Conley looked like a good athlete who couldn't play point, also.

Congrats, to D-Washington. :boogie:

IDK, there has to be a reason the staff has been banging on the door of just about every unsigned top 100 PG.

Washington is a great shooter with average athleticism (for a power 6 recruit). His ball handling is OK, but he's not a facilitator, he's a shooter. Muhammed is probably more of a combo guard than Washington, but the staff has been scrambling for a PG, so I trust their take on what positions they still need to fill.

2018 early signing period: Long range forecast

MOST PRODUCTIVE FRESHMAN NOT CURRENTLY RANKED IN THE RIVALS150

Evans' pick

If we are sticking strictly to the high-major rung, I have to go with Duane Washington Jr. The nephew of Derek Fisher, Washington will enroll at Ohio State next year as the only member in OSU’s 2018 class not ranked; it says here that he will outperform all as a freshman and earn a starting spot from day one in Columbus.
